Default What would be the 2 best tyre types for a 205 GTI within $250ea

    Gday guys!
I got my licence today, what an ugly mug shot!
The tie has merged with my beard to give me what appears to be a giant goatie! Ah well, I'm on the road anyhow

What would be the best 2 sets of tyres that I could put on my 205 GTI at $250 a tyre?

At the moment I have 2 very well worn FM901's on the rear and two Dunlop 703 something or others on the front.

I have $250ea to spend on each tyre ($1000 all up), what would be my best choice? Michies would be good

    Thanks guys!

I used Yokohamas on mine years ago & they were brilliant. I try to only stick to Michelins, Yokohamas or Pirelli if I can on all cars. I tend to drive my cars pretty hard & loved getting it out in the wet which is where the Yoka's shined. From memory they were only about $175 ea. Hope this helps.

Happy Birthday Josh and congratulations on the license

I love my Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s They are superb and are doing very well in the various tests. I paid $205 ea. for 205/55 R16s, although I'm not sure whether they'd be in your size (you on R14s or R15s?).

Bleh, Michelin Certis belong on Tonka Trucks! Best way to destroy a car's feel and handling capabilities. BTW - don't buy Michelin for the sake of buying Michelin, but I must say at $250 a tyre you've got a bit of choice there.

    Thanks guys

I took her out for a spin tonight (Well, the car with my girl ) and it went pretty well, until I neared home. How come after owning the car for 8 months with some pretty frequent driving the brake pads decide to go now? Doh! Bring on the engine braking, eek!

Tyres have become third on my list of priorities. Brake pads, genuine pug shockers (The Koni Yellow are aweful) and then tyres.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have it all done.

    Thanks once again guys!
