    Icon11 wheel advice

ok before you all start yelling "rice alert", i have to point out that i did not go looking for these, they just fell into my lap!

Anyway, was going past my neighbour 2 doors down on saturday and noticed he had a nice little beetly that looks brand new... never noticed it before!

So i stopped and looked up the driveway to get a gawk at it, and he sees me and waves me up to have a look at it.

Its immaculate, hes had it all sand blasted and resprayed replaced every rubber etc etc etc...

anyhooo, chatn about his car, and he has a look at mine and says "i might have a set of wheels for your car!"

and disappears up into his garages' loft and comes down with a massive 17" wheel (same pattern as the ones on that lovely west-australian 205mi16 that was (is?) for sale)! 2 of em have tyres on them so i grabbed them and tried them on, they fit (just) and i had no rubbing issues at full lock in either direction. He said i could have them for almost nothing, so i thought, hell i cant loose and grabbed them...

They are 17 inch with 215/45/17 rubber on them, im a little worried that theyre gonna be too wide (they only just seem to fit in at the back).

Anyone got any experience with wheels of this size? are they gonna be too big? are they gonna cause too much rattle and bump??

I was thinking if theyre gonna be too harsh to use all the time, they might be worth keeping for special occasions (street racing, cruisin for chicks, parking at mcdonalds etc etc...), or even track days (if i ever get all the othe little things fixed up) or are they just gonna be a total nightmare and not worth the hassle??

    oh yeah...

I reckon the look pretty good too! it was nice to see the guards full for once!

    can you take some photos?

Big wheels tend to look funny on a car that hasn't been lowered.. is there alot of space between top of tires & wheel arch?

I'm thinking of getting different wheels, I wouldn't go higher than 16" personally.

They should be OK if you ran 205/40R17 instead.

Are you ready to pay through your nose for such tyre sizes?

You're looking at between $250 and $400+ for tyres in that size.

Which F1s (old model GS-D2 or new model GS-D3) are they? I reckon what you have is a bit too wide, but if you want to keep what you have, then it could be OK.

nah not chrome... but they did come with spinner hubs!

no seriously... they not chrome, theyre alloy with a thick coating of a greyish finish of sorts, which is chipped off in a few little spots from gutters id say. They came off another pug though, still got little lions on the valve caps so who in the willoughby area has recently sold a set of wheels?? what did they come off??

as for the floormats, are they anodized blue? cos they gotta match my checkerplate numberplate holder and braided hoses!...

i knew id get payed out for rice!

    They look alright dude,
If the car was a tad lower they'd look choice.

All you need now is a nice big black playboy bunny sticker & lexus tail-lights.

Theres a 206 getting around my area with a massive t-wing on it.... I hang my head in shame when I see it.
