Default Repairing a wheel rim - Melbourne

A wheel rim on my daughter's Megane is damaged. See photos.

Anyone have experience in having these rims repaired - in Melbourne?

I've used Ajax a few years ago, run by two grumpy old men, who know their stuff. However they tend to work when they want to and can take a while to get the job done.

That was at their old location off Nepean Hwy, down the road from the Moorabbin Bowling Center. Things have probably changed.

A neighbor used EWW and got a good job.

I've used Neway a couple of times with good success on alloy rims.

    Default Wheel repair

    Agree with suggestion of Beway

First used them 40 years ago and have never let me down

They won’t bodge - if wheel can’t be safely repaired they will tell you- but are flexible and imaginative with unusual tasks

Prices are fair - neither stupidly high nur stupidly low, both of which are important

    Fairly quick tyrnaround too

Thanks all for advice. I'll go with Neway - they are well located for me and from all reports do a good job. I'll report back on the experience.

    Progress report.

Dropped the wheel off Neway today. Thinks it can be fixed. Cost: $115. Turnaround - a few days.

    I'm hopeful.

Would suggest to ask the expert but as per seeing the photo you have shared, it could fix and have a wheel balancing to secure the efficiency of the rim.

All fixed - by Neway. Price as quoted - discount for cash. Done in a couple of days.

Neway were good to deal with. The place in Richmond (cant remember their name) didn't bother to respond to my inquiry. If I need wheel repairs I'll go back to Neway.

A bit too late of a response but could inform the next person.

The wheel repair place in Richmond you mentioned is probably Wheels Solution; avoid them!

Had a set of wheels repainted by them, cost $1300, and can't say I'm 100% happy. Was going to pick up the car, they lock my key inside the car. Noted the clear coat didn't cover a lot of area and the paint felt rough here and there. No worries, they put more clear coat on.

Finally got a second key, picked up the car, drove ~35km home and the car felt weird. Checked the wheel bolts - all finger tight only, some undone by 1-2 turns. Bloody dangerous!

Closer inspections revealed paint runs here and there from spraying too much paint. Won't be going back there or recommending it to anyone.

I used Neway for years, mainly for wire wheels.

They got lots of business from me in the 90's with 3 MG Midgets in the family!

    Always had good results.
