    Default Gearbox support removal ???

Just want to know , is the upper gearbox support mount that is secured to the L/H frame rail removable .
If so whats the procedure without taking the engine gearbox out .
Do i need to stick a jack under the gearbox unit and lift and support it , whats to look out for ? is it that simple or not ?. Never done this before so need a bit of advice please.
Need to do some bodywork and paint there .

    Thanks

    Yes, it is.

Yes, you need to support the g'box, you will actually need to lower it a bit, not raise it. The trick is to find a spot underneath where you can place a jack that won't tilt it either way. I would suggest you find a long sturdy timber beam you rest on top of the mudguards or across the other way from the front to the scuttle and use a sling around it and the g'box to support it. A ratchet strap would be ideal. There isn't much weight to cope with, just a be a bit careful with the whole contraption.

Have a look on the internets or in the manual, you will figure it out how. There are two horizontal bolts securing it to the chassis leg in addition to the ones on the top going vertically down.

Try to find a way to prevent the big stud rotating (its bottom end is threaded in the g'box housing) as you take off the top nut (use WD40 aplenty there) because this can shear the rubber in the bushing. After undoing the top nut you can take out the rubber bush securing nuts and remove the bush, and it helps a bit with removing the g'box, but it's not strictly necessary.

    It's not that hard, anyway.

    ACHTUNG ALLES LOOKENPEEPERS

Thanks mate , yeah just got to be aware of what could move in the wrong direction and secure for that. The bush looks knackered so might make sense for a change out .
Thanks for the tip on the bolt .
Its a 1995 and dont think its had any TLC .

    Cheers
