Default 403 engined Vintage wooden boat

New to this forum and sure you guys can provide some advice
I have recently purchased a fully restored racing Skiff (clinker boat 13ft6in) that was originally fitted with a 403 engine - extensively modified
I would like to rebuild the 403 engine (currently standard spec) to the as raced version of the early 70s I have photos of the engine but little in the way of specs
What I know - engine was modified to have twin 40 DCOE weber carbs I have both the webers and the manifold
I am sure some forum members have had experience with these engines and 'sensible' maximum mods ?
I have built race car engines in the past but no experience with Peugeot engines but several 4cyl pushrod types - toyota, datsun ford etc
Current thinking - normal stuff - camshaft
    - head work (obviously to suit the webers)
    - compression - new forged pistons / H beam rods
    - dry sump (if necessary)
The input of anybody who has been down this track would be appreciated
I know Bob Holden ran a supercharged 403 engine in an open wheeler in the 60s 70s but can find little info on n/a mods

looking forward to see the photos you mention also if/when you can, new ones of the manifold... given time searching around this forum you'll eventually find data on cam grinds, flow etc., but i can't recall 3rd party con-rods ever being mentioned. There is iirc something to be gained from using 203 heads on 403 blocks or something but any head without corrosion or cracks between plug/valve is desirable. There is something hanging in a museum in Brisbane you should be aware of already?

It’s a pity Ken Brigden has passed away. His race car (403) is now owned by someone in the Newcastle/hunter area I believe.
Maybe post in the Peugeot forum direct if you haven’t already.

There was a green 403 powered open wheeler at Classic Yass
late last year. Had Webber’s I think. No other info..I couldn’t find an
owner. Was on display with similar type machines. I will rigorously
pursue more details if it appears again..
