Default peugeot xu9 flat top pistons?

i recently purchased a so called near new motor which i was told had flat top pistons. when looking a replacing the cam belt i noticed the cam had a badly worn lobe. Reluctantly i had to remove the head and found an issue with some shonky valve work which has possibley caused the cam to chew a lobe off. the odd valve is sitting approximately 1mm high than all the others but only at the tip inside the retainer anyway thats another story.

After observing a few things ive discovered it doesnt have flat top pistons but the previous owner assures me that they are flat top. Can someone please confirm what pistons these are as believe they are std dfz pistons.

    dish is approximately 2.5mm deep

This is a shot of the pistons in my 8v when I rebuilt it 5 years ago. It was a dfz but something in the back of my head sais it had been rebuilt

....now watch a Peugeot turn into a corner!

The first pic looks like aftermarket DFZ pistons, which usually have a 9cc dish. The second pic looks like a DKZ piston which has a 16cc dish.

Thanks thats what I thought. it makes more sense now Peter why it was claimed to have 10.5 and not 11.5.

I'm pretty certain they are dfz possible new after market at rebuild but definitely not flat top pistons. I would have a wild guess that flat top pistons would have flat Tops!

Either way that's fine I don't mind that they are dfz or the 9 cc pistons as I can work with that but thought I was getting proper flat top pistons and probley paid for them too.

I might start another thread but what do you make of these valve tips? All the others are flat and similar height but there are two odd valves in the head. They seem ok in the seat.

From memory, it goes like this:
DFZ 9cc (same piston as 1.6L GTi)
    D6B 15cc
    DKZ 16cc

Perhaps the true flat top pistons come from the D6A (XU9J2)?

Yes, true flat top are Xu9J2 (D6a and D6D) also used in the carby version. I used them in my 205 rally motor with a DFV head and Citroen BX GTi cam until something found its way into a combustion chamber in the Eureka Rally early last year, cracked a liner and put divits in the head and one of the pistons. The engine was going extremely well until this happened.
