    Default C2 Gear boxes

Could someone assist me with some questions about C2 gear boxes? In my 403 station wagon, a 1960 model, I have a 1961 C2 box.The 4th gear seems to be quite low as was pointed out to me by a fellow Pugster -he said the motor is revving too hard.I have a selection of C2 boxes that may be more suitable for highway cruising- 1954, 1958, 1959, 1960.Which one is likely to be most suitable?Thank you .

    You mean a 1961 C3 gearbox?
Use the latest C2 box, the 203 ones will have the wrong clutch connections and also the latest have slightly better ratios.
Being a wagon it will still be a bit low geared. What would be good is to find a late 403b wagon diff, post 1962 and fit a late 404 sedan diff centre to it then keep your C3 box.
These diffs look like the sedan ones, not the huge cast iron ones.

Thanks Graham. I was looking under the wagon with a torch and I thought it looked like 1961.No good using a 404 wagon diff?
