    Default 205 GTI WEIGHT

    Hi kids,

Has anybody got an accurate weight for a non-power assited 205. I have just bought a G-Tec comp and want to be as accurate as possible.

On the net I have found 880kg for the power assisted S3s but nothing for the s1 and s2s.

    Mine is a 1990 s2

    cheers

Got out my official 205 sales brochures and they quote kerb weight as being
880kg for the power assisted models and 850kg for the 1.6 gti which technically the Aussie one are ...just with a 1.9 lump in it.
    I imagine the rear discs/power steer/15" wheels may have added 30 kg's.
Another bit of useless information....the later 205's are 5mm longer than the earlier ones.

How about a weigh bridge? Does 'track car' mean 'not road registered'?

I always thought the Australian 205 GTIs with Air Con were 930 kg. This figure appeared in the sales brochures.
The SI is 850Kg, smaller brakes, less front suspension components, maybe lighter motor, can't think of any other weight saving though.
Whilst on the subject, why does the 206 GTI weigh 50Kg less than the 1.6??
Also, I believe the 1.4 is 100 Kg lighter than the 1.6.

I know my 205 (1.6 remember) weighs 900kg with me in it.

Thats after I've stripped most of the interior out of it, no spare, no jack etc.

I weigh 65kg so that makes the car 835kg.

My series 2 weighed 930kg with a half tank of fuel, and the later series 3 wheels fitted that weighed 1kg each more than the standard 14". They were 19kg each with tyres. Strong but heavy.
