    Default Sump plug washer?

I fitted an aftermarket alum sump (from Mecaparys) and recently did an oil change on my R8.
I reused the sump plug and copper washer, but now has a light oil leak. Is the copper washer correct or should I have used a fibre or plastic washer?

    Hi Angelo

    You need some of these:

    crushable copper washer | eBay

Change the washer every time you do an oil change and it won't leak.

Thanks Col, it seems that I need to stick with copper.
I will get some and it should solve the slight problem.
    thanks

No other "slight" leaks? Well done! Mine's been as dry as a chip since 1988 regarding the sump, but the odd wee drip from the clutch and crownwheel carrier areas - trivial as you can park on clean concrete and not leave any mark. They do seal well when you get it right. Better to keep the hexagon sump plug I reckon, so you can nip it up reasonably tight (not ridiculously).

Gbox is fine and will get the sump washer sorted soon, but as I have just filled it with new oil, I will have to drain it out and fill it again and hope it doesn't leak again.
next is checking the cooling system. As I did a Alpine radiator conversation (radiator from rear to front slimline using aluminium tube and plenty of rubber hose bends with many clamps) I hope that the leaking won't be too bad.
i also have the brakes to fill with fluid as well, but one job at a time.

Delivery for the crushable copper washer was going to be mid Feb and I couldnt wait, so picked up a handful of these from Champion in Arden St, Nth Melb.

Seems to have done the trick.
