Default XU9J Mi16 motorsport thermostat housing replacement- not plastic

    Hi,

has anyone ever been able to locate a manufacturer of decent thermostat housings (ie not plastic ones like the stock Pug ones) for an Mi16, 89 model XU9J? The stock plastic ones are not lasting very long in my rally car and I would like to source an alloy housing set up and inlet hose to thermostat housing connector / adaptor, if there are any off the shelf made for motorsport use. Alternatively, anyone had any success retro fitting one from another make or model that is not the brittle plastic type?

You need an alloy 8V version.

    Thats just the housing.

Youll still need the outlet where the pipe attaches.

    Do they sell them also?

That's the greatest waste of money I've ever seen. All you need to do is remove the heater bypass pipe, tap 1/2" BSP and fit a bung.

The XU9J1/2 alloy outlet is best. In addition to being aluminium, it gets the radiator hose pointing in the right direction. $10-$20 and the job is done.

Even the 2nd hand ones are usually corroded beyond repair.

Hi this is the thermo cover I am seeking at the link below. I have the small inlet bunged up and only need the larger pipe fitting. I will try to find a 205 one. I am wondering if there is some other car that is same stud pattern and size. Surely other cars use these and are same dimensions? Thanks for the input from all.
