    Icon9 Tiniting help

    Hi guys,
I am looking at tinting the the windows, including back the windsrcreen of my 5door 206.

I want to get a relatively dark tint, my only concern is quality. I know how awfull tiniting can look if it is a bad job, or even worse if it starts to crack or peel off. I wouldn't go through with it unless it has some kind of warranty or gurantee, etc.

Does any1 know of places in Sydney who do a really good job with tinting and are reasonably priced?

    any help would be appreciated.

Tiniting, isnt that something that the chemist could help you with

As for tinting, check out how dark you can go before attracting mr plods attention. It is a pain if you get a canary and have to take it off to pass RWC only to pay to get it put back again.

Not sure where u r in Sydney, but i got mine done through "Hunters Hill Window Tinting" PH. 0418 464 185
He's mobile too, so he can come to you...

Job was perfect, the day before he did mine he did John Laws' Bentley Bi-Turbo... so yeah... all sweet! He also gets LOADS of people seeing his Moonaro & wanting the tints!

Cheap as hell too!!! i got the good film & it was $175 for my RS Clio!

Cheap and quality don't go hand in hand, IMO. I got the 3M Scotchtint Carbon based tint. Darkest legal and blackest on the market. It looks awesome, but cost around $360 for my Focus. If you want cheap, go with Premier tint.

    Quality & Cheap...

Well you've seen the results on my car...

Ring the guy & tell him u want that tint, see if he's got it & the price...
The same tint from Sol Ace or Sola Tint was $295 & $395!!!

I'll post some pics of mine morrow morn with my new wheels...
Its darkest legal & metal based.
Apparently the only better tint was that one & can throw bricks at & it dont shatter, but hey if they do it once they'll do it 10 times & it'll break!

Yeah thats the same stuff i have...

apparently there's only 2 places in America which make the good stuff... the dealerships & big companies will say "no one can get the stuff we use" but its the same stuff with different product codes!
Do you really thing those american companies are gonna give a rats who uses their tints?

Look at the Adelaide cruise pics at www.mymane.net/photos/aussiefrogs. Otherwise my avatar has the tint shown.

    Or here, here's another pic:

Sure is. It's just a blacker tint, rather than blocking more light. It cuts 65% glare. Best thing to do is call 3M and ask for a tint installer in the Newcastle area (it'd be different to Sydney and Sydney has only one mobile guy). In sydney I called the recommended place who only did buldings, and they recommended me to the 3M car guy, so that may happen to you in Newcastle as well.

They're very stringent on who fits the 3M tint as it has a very good warrantee on it that is backed up by 3M, rather than the installer.

Here's another Focus shot on the same day and time. He's running the Sentry tint from Ford dealers, which I'm pretty certain is the same film as Solace F1, but not 100%. In the flesh my tint is significantly darker...less so in the photos...

Here is an ST170 without a tint, so you can see the different from stock:

Option Tinting in Fairfield are great! 9725 6914

I have had 5 cars dones by these guys, the last being dad's VS Statesman. They did a 30% film, with lifetime warranty on fading, bubbling and colour changing for around $220. They even said that they'd remove the tint for free if we were defected for it. However being 30%, it still is very close to the 35% legal limit.

Now a Statesman's not exactly a small car. So it was a bargain.
