I still use the choke exactly as before

Yes, it has a vacuum sensor, but just a pipe end not a mechanical capsule

No idea regarding geometry and the GS distributor. You'd have to find someone who has done it or send a distributor and cross your fingers. Ask them.....

    Cheers

Yes, have already asked them, they said have to send it to them to be perfectly sure it can fit. I take that to mean no oneís ever done one for a GS before

Yes bit of a gamble I guess. Anyway thanks John for sharing your answers. Cheers.

Easy, provided you do have a spare distributor or two - I'd assume most of us with older Citroens have a stash of stuff.

The GS really deserves to be more common than it has become.

I just received an R5 Alpine 123 Ignition distributor which the company itself in the Netherlands doesn't manufacture. However, the 123 Ignition distributor in Germany modifies the original 123 products to suit various makes and models. Maybe give them a hoy

Looks as if more than one company is doing this work, not surprisingly. 123 themselves can't tool up for every make and model.

    Mine came from Hebels: 123 Ignition-Conversions |

    The internet is wonderful!

Yes, absolutely. On the 123 site the 1289cc motor is not listed for the R12 but rather for variants of the 810 motor. Worked well on the 1108cc too.

Worked well for the 1108 motor "in the end" I presume? I seem to remember disappointment at the start?

Ah, yes all coming back now...

I had a sweet little motor and gear box in my r10 that I bought for spares, including the motor you now have. The vac capsule on the dizzy failed and it never ran the same. I'd taken the 123 out of the r12 because it wasn't to my liking. I thought I'd try it on the R10 so with some fiddling I got it on song. Then I took the R10 off the road and thought I'd give it one last try in the R12. Thats when I had the success. Now that R12 is being scrapped and the dizzy is awaiting a new assignment. In all it's been hardly used.
