Default NEWS FLASH - L'escadron GTi & Club Coupe Cabriolet.

    NEWS FLASH.

2003 has been a good year for WA's L'escadron GTi and Club
Coupe Cabriolet ... numbers have grown from 3 cars originally
to cruises exceeding 20 cars, with over 35 different cars
    participating at some stage.

We ran the first AussieFrog WA cruise, had 3 interstate
visitors and a great time. See www.206gti.net/wa for past
    cruise runs.

As the group was getting larger it was clear some sort
of formalisation would be required. Rather then set up
our own official club (elect office bearers, form committees,
draw up a constitution, open bank accounts, get incorporation,
seek public liability insurance etc etc), it was decided
that an alliance with the WA Peugeot Car Club would be the
best option. After discussion with the PCCWA committee they
    have agreed to this alliance.

L'escadron GTi and Club CC will be "chapters" of the PCCWA.

This would not only cover us for public liability insurance
for club activities it would also inject a large number
of newer models Peugeots into the PCCWA. Our track record for
incident at events is pretty much spotless (no accidents,
speeding fines, car breakdowns, parking fines etc etc), but
recent interstate events have highlighted the potential risks
to all cruise participants, it was therefore important this
was sorted out sooner, rather then later.

As the PCCWA is the only "official" WA Peugeot car club, they
can seek assistance directly from Peugeot Australia for club
    activities, where-as we cannot.

The PCCWA also have a series of events each year, ranging
from dinner nights, cruises, navigation runs, Xmas party,
and in 2004 the weekend away trip is being revived (promises
to seek out all the best roads in the south west !) You
    also get 11 monthly newsletters.

    So where to now ?
Well in order to come on cruises held by L'escadron GTi or Club
CC you will need to be a financial member of the PCCWA.

    What does this cost ?
    $35 per calendar year - a bargain.

    What about non-Peugeots ?
If you own another French car (Renault or Citroen ) you can
join the PCCWA as an associate member, cost is the same and
the ONLY thing different is you can not vote at committee
meetings - all other rights are the same.

    What about Guests ?
New people can attend 2 events as a guest before they must
join. People who have previously attended GTi/CCC events
will need to join before or at the next cruise.

What about Partners and Spouses ?
They don't have to be a member, but if you are both actively
participating and driving in events it would be encouraged.
The PCCWA may be looking at Family and Couples memberships
    in the near future.

    How do I join ?
A new electronic membership form is under development, it can
be e-mailed to you in PFD format. This will be available
early in 2004. Complete the form, sign and return to the
    clubs P.O.Box with your remittance.

Other strategies in 2004 will be to establish closer links
with the WA dealers (yes "dealers" is plural, a new dealer
will be here before June 2004) and other service agents
and businesses. The aim is to use the increasing numbers
of the club to leverage support.

The PCCWA does not have CAMS affiliation, for those seeking
entrance into official motorsport events (classic challenge,
    motorkhana's and autocross) alternative arrangements
are being investigated. This doesn't preclude us from
participating in advance driver training days and other
like activities (an event is scheduled for 2004).

If you have any other questions please feel free to e-mail me.
In the mean time I trust you have a safe Xmas and New Year.

Congratulations on pulling it all together.

BTW - the Torque magazines will be posted later in the week. I've got two, but I'm awaiting a few more.

Also it was thanks to Graeme (PCCWA president) and the PCCWA committee that have agreed to let us join and maintain our identity.

Con grats all round M8, good job. If the Froggy enthausiast from the remaining states could do the same that'd be brilliant.
    Health and good fortune always,

Unfortunately we may loose some members ... but everyone's had such a good time on our drives they'd be crazy not to join. This way everyone is protected, and all is above board.

I suspect this would happen if we did it here too, actually I suspect our numbers would probably crash.

PCCV membership is $55 p.a. - I think it's good value, many people just join for the magazine. If I look at the composition of the events I've been on this year, we have only had 4 PCCV members and 3 RCCV members.

    hI,

I think i'm out of this loop? What started this protection of aussie frogs from the evils of cruising? Who crashed or was caught doing stupid speeds! Or is only a select number of people prevy to this information? Sorry but I can see the need why just wondering why we haven't done this from the start if it was going to be a problem?

    Cheers Nick

We probably would lose members, but you're right, they would be crazy not to join! I think $35 is bugger all considering the gains.

Best left alone Nick, until moderators open the subject.
i'll simply say the need to change, was made very obvious.

Don't stress it Nick .... formalising activities was always on the agenda for us (irrespective of anything that has happened in the past in other states). It's a natural step.

As past vice-president of a tennis club for many years it was obviously that legally any organised cruises/activities had the potential to be a minefield - for everyone involved, gone are the days when people take full responsibility for their own actions - and lawyers are like vultures circling.

I certainly don't want to lose my house due to someone else's stupidity (or maybe just mis-fortune).

So we sort legal advise, which led us down the current path. Applogies to those who feel they shouldn't have the join the PCCWA to come on cruises, but for $35 (a fee that hasn't been raised in years and probably the cheapest around) you are missing out sadly if you don't. Also remember, power in organised numbers can bring you other benefits as well.

    Hi XTC,

I would join your club in WA as you have pulled your finger out and given a real good go of a GTi Club. But i live on the other side of the world in brisbane. But still its good to see you guys actually taking the time to do this sort of stuff maybe all peugeot clubs should do this to attract new members!

    Cheers Nick

Ok then, I have a question. Don't know why I didn't think about it before but hey.

What about financial members of the offical Peugeot Clubs, ie. PCC of Vic and NSW (and other states). If we are silly/enlightened enough to drive all the way over there (or hire a Renault and do it for example), would the 2 visit guest rule still apply, or would WA membership still be needed?

Under the constitution (which is being revised as we speak - although an AGM or extra-ordinary meeting will need to be held to ratify it) there will be provisions for guests ... but you can only be a guest once or twice ever, cause in the eyes of the law you are no longer considered a guest (you look more like a regular member) hence you will need to pay your dues.

So when are we going to see you Simon
