    Default Melbourne Cruise - 6/12/03

There was a smallish but enthusiastic turnout to the Melbourne cruise today. Those present were:

    Justin (PUG307) 307
    Scott (McPug) 205 GTi
    Mark (two-o-philic) 205 GTi
    Reggie (pugjet) 205 GTi
    John (Pug405Mi16) 406 SV
    DJ (DJ-Studd) 205 GTi
    John (peujohn) 504 GTi
Nigel (not yet an AF member) Alfa 75 3.0L

Also along were DJ-Studd's parents and sister.

The weather was perfect, clear and sunny with a cool breeze. The roads were dry. The roadworks are still in progress on the Black Spur, but other than this there was nothing to hold us up, conditions for driving were good and the route was excellent.

Thanks again to Justin for organising the cruise, and thanks to all who came along and made it an enjoyable day. There was a great atmosphere and great cameraderie.

peujohn's brother is a member now!

Thanks everyone for the welcome you gave me, despite me arriving in a non-frog. I really enjoyed the day too.

The French competition was pretty tough, but no match for the Italian stallion. Seriously, I'm not here to stir up trouble, I love French cars too.

    See you next time!

    Nigel, welcome to Aussiefrogs

We had our first Melbourne Aussiefrogs Dinner too, which was good. Record time in which a Melbourne event was organised - 1 day.

For all our other Melbourne based AF friends who have missed recent events, watch this space. At this point in time, try to keep your Sunday night free (14DEC03) for dinner.

Thanks to Luca, I had my first spin in a 205 too, it really is like a little go kart. It'll dart around and despite being a sporty car, its engine is quite tractable from low revs. Even pottering along at 40km/h can be fun. It's certainly a raw experience

    Grazie Luca

All in all it was a v.nice drive with EXCELLENT weather and great roads!

Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to take many pics, however here are a few of the round-up at the beginning of the day and morning tea.

I have blanked out the plates on all of the cars as I'm not sure if anyone doesn't want their rego's displayed

    Good stuff!
Mind you, I don't know what the Alfa was doing in there, I thought it was a frog cruise, not a bomb cruise!

    Great stuff guys
I vote for a go-karting day on one saturday as the next event!
Edit: My "sister" is actually my girlfriend

My "sister" is actually my girlfriend.
Well sorry Josh! I wondered if it was your girlfriend but I didn't really know! I thought she was riding in the 406 with John for a bit, so I figured that if she was your girlfriend she would be sticking close to her man all the time!

My most sincere apologies, no offence meant!

    eyyy guys,

pardon me for the late-ish post - been having a few connection issues.

yeah the weather was near perfect and the roads were brilliant apart from road works along the black spur which made that piece of tarmac uneventful.

the 75 goes pretty hard but obviously and inevitably succummed to the 205gti battering ram . nigels 75 is an immaculate example - but nowhere as nice as johns 504 "GTI" though... you should hear that engine purrr, too.

joshs fathers just a freak, man. thought hed be one of those tightarz camry driving parents, but infact i'd be more scared of ian than josh on a test drive! i now know where josh gets the passion from.

good to see scott (mcpug) and john (406sv) make the effort.

scotts 205gti "work in progress" is simply a grounded fighter jet, man.

ive got a mate whos parents own a new 307xs and always bags it hardcore. only if he could see justin behind the wheel. marc and i are always dumbfounded by justin and that pissweak 307. man, he makes that queer eye for the straight guy 307 do unbeleivable sh1t - i'd love to see him behind a gti.

yeah justin, if its been said already, i'll say it again - thank you - nobody organises a social event quite like you do .

    cheers,

    reggie

P.S. eyyy luca, your the biggest wog, ray. dun worry, ray, im a wog wrapped in dim sim pastry .

yeah, u know that pizza place? is that next to that place where u buy those sticky buns?

I figured he was going to drive with some gusto after hearing the stories about taking his Xsara VTS through there

What a way to describe a 307, I've never quite heard it being described that way! 'Queer eye for the straight guy 307'???, hahahah, don't know how I'm supposed to read that! I've never watched the show so I don't know if there are any other funny connotations with that

The car's still in good health after 37,000, my precious 110 horses are still there too

You're welcome - nobody probably organises more corners per hour than me The important thing is that we get support for these events, because they don't happen without that.

Now, onto dinner this weekend. You better be there! Help drum up support as you always do

We should have a good level of support for what probably will be the final Aussiefrogs event in Melbourne for 2003. On that note, I'd like to thank everyone else who has helped with the running of our events in Melbourne over 2003. If mistareno turns up, I can present him with an award.

    Dinner: Melbourne Dinner

Lets bow out on a strong note for 2004.
