Default Grand Combined Club/Aussiefrogs WA BBQ and Drive Day.....with a twist! ;)

    "Heres something different!

Eurocars is the ONLY dedicated dealership in Australia selling pre loved French cars and nothing else. Rod now has near on 60 French cars for sale at the new yard (check out www.eurogroup.com.au for full details) <<< Shameless plug!

On Sunday February 5th the official Grand Opening of the new Welshpool outlet will coincide with a “French and Fantastic drive day” The invitation is open to members of Aussiefrogs.com, OzRenaultsport, Association of Citroen Enthusiasts, SIVA and the Peugeot Car Club of Western Australia. We are aiming for the largest collection of French cars ever to attend a drive day in WA and hope to get a great representation from all clubs.

Whats the plan you ask? We will meet at New Norcia cafe in Mount Hawthorn for a quick coffee and catch up at 9am (Parking details TBA ie Google map to follow) Allowing 30 minutes for coffee/brekky/chat we will then depart at 9:30 for a 90 minute drive through Perths rolling hills stopping at a couple of well known locations for great photo opportunities. Maps will be handed out to all participants at this stage with representatives from all clubs making themselves known down the track.

The drive will be designed for all Frogmobiles from 2CV's and 404's to Renaultsports and Pug GTi's and will be able to be completed at ones leisure.

The drive will end at Eurocars new dealership in Welshpool for the grand opening where everyone can have a bit of a chinwag whilst enjoying a complimentary fully catered BBQ care of Eurocars.

At this early stage we already have confirmation of about 20 cars so I think we can get 40, lets do it!

In addition to this, 100’s of automotive accessories & car care products will be available for discounted sale to club members. Rod managed to score a big chunk of the ex Coventrys stock and is happy to pass the savings onto YOU. There will be savings that members of the public simply are not able to receive.

This drive day/BBQ has the potential to become a major date on the French car owners calendar and we’d love you to come along for this inaugural event. Ad a comment here or PM Rod Slater or Justin Walker (zykyra) or call on 0439 935 369 to confirm your attendance.

Be great to see you along on the day!

I shall be there in spirit...

ps I don't think that I could travel there and back in a weekend, even in the mighty 18E.

Same for me - would love to attend, but distance is a tad prohibitive! Sounds like it will be a fantastic event though so I hope you all get a great day for it

Much as i would like to attend - in fact it would be a "must do" - I will be in Melbourne that weekend.

Good luck with the run and the BBQ - it will be a good day.

    Default Update

Hi all, here is the route for next Sunday’s Combined French
and Fantastic Drive Day. We have had a fantastic response so far with approximately
    30-40 cars confirmed!

All you need to do is cut and paste this link into your
address bar and all will be revealed.

    http://g.co/maps/nyrya

The time on the map says 3.5 hours but is actually a very
comfortable drive of slightly more than 2 hours.

I will also have hard copies which will be handed out at the
    meeting places.

    So this is the plan.....

Meet at 9am (or earlier) for a 9:30am departure from New
    Norcia Bakery in Mount Hawthorn.

    http://www.newnorciabaker.com.au/mou...d-cafe-map.htm

Parking is limited on Scarborough Beach Road so please park
at the carpark at the rear of the bakery. This carpark is also accessible from
    Coogee st (behind IGA).

We will then travel in convoy to Stirk Park in Kalamunda (eastern
point) were we can pick up our friendly hills dwellers. This will be a short 10
minute meet so that we can be on our way.

We then take a drive via the Mundaring Weir to picturesque
Lake Leschenaultia in Chidlow where we can have a bit of a photo shoot and
chinwag. After 20 minute stay we drive on through some beautiful roads around
Gidegannup before heading back towards the big smoke. On the way back we will
stop briefly at Jane Brook Estate where you can indulge in buying some quality
wines. This stop will be approximately 20 minutes also.

    http://www.janebrook.com.au/

After Jane Brook we make a bee-line for Eurocars where a
fully catered lunch will be awaiting all! We hope to be at Eurocars around the
    12-12:30 mark.

Please feel free to drive at your own pace and don’t feel
like you need to “keep up” The drive is intended to be a relaxing drive through
the countryside with ample opportunity to catch up with old and new friends.

If you get lost or need any info at all don’t hesitate to
    call me (Justin) on 0439 935 369.

Hi all, just a heads up. I didn't realise that Lake Leschenaultia charges a $6 entry fee per car (not person). Hope the $6 is OK for everyone, will try and negotiate a group rate with them in any case, watch this space......

    Icon14 Nice one Justin!!

Hope you get a good response on this, it sounds nicely organised and scoped drive day. Congratulations.

My only slight crit, is that if it was located in Victoria, we would need a longer time allowed for tasting.top ups in the winery. But then some on A/F are partial to Western Australian wines and wineries..

Sounds great Justin, I urge everyone to support the run, and wish we were able to get there!!

Proof that someone or something up above loves French Cars! After a fortnight of (what I consider) HORRIBLY hot weather we are set for a perfect sunny day of 27 degrees! Woo Hoo!

    http://www.bom.gov.au/wa/forecasts/perth.shtml

My biggest fear was a 40 plus degrees drive day!

Also just an update re parking at Eurocars. Parking will be outside the front of Roadbend Jaguar or on the opposite side of Eurocars there is a group of units with a large carpark out the front. Should be ample parking for the expected 40 cars.

    Picture here...

    Hi all, just a quick update for tomorrow;

*If you wanted to sit down at Eurocars it may pay to bring an outdoor chair if possible as there are only about 15 chairs.
*Janebrook Estate has extended free wine tasting (normally $5) to all participants.

*Also, don’t forget also that there will be 100’s of Motoring accessories on sale cheap so there will be a big opportunity for some BARGAINS! This includes car care products, tools, parts etc etc, all ex Coventry's stock.

    See you all tomorrow!

Hi all, what can I say! It was a great day and by far the biggest drive day of French Cars in WA EVER! From what I could see we had around 40 cars representing all marques and years. Thanks to all that came and a big thanks to Rod at Eurocars for providing the lunch at the end. It just goes to show that despite the French Car owners in Perth being a small bunch that we are a very passionate bunch!

My photo's and that of the Sunday Times can be found here "unedited"

    http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...ay%2005022012/

Sometimes I think the unedited versions give a much better version of how the day actually went.

    Some sample pics are below.

It seems that "Google Maps" is not the divine being that we (I) assume it to be and that many of us took a wrong turn (or 2) to me that just made the day even more interesting. The odd wrong turn here or there seemed to make the day even more exciting!

    Enjoy

I made it to the New Norcia carpark with enough time to park, and see you guys zip off (and I believe I got to say hi to you Justin?)

Should have loved to come along, unfortunately I'm on Ls for 5 more months. The lady friend didn't feel comfortable enough in the 504 for such a long drive (she is on her green Ps, so no supervising me legally!)

I'll see you all around in the future!
