Default Melbourne cruise - Saturday November 13

The cruise is still happening! Posting about it now for the third time.

    November 13 cruise route

The date has been set as Saturday November 13 as this seemed an early preference. Hope this doesn't disappoint too many people.

The meeting place will be the carpark at the Beechworth Bakery in Healesville. The bakery is located on the right hand side, on the main road (Maroondah Hwy) at the other side of town if you're coming from Lilydale/Melbourne.

The meeting time will be 8.30am. I suggest a coffee and chat at this point, either inside (plenty of room there) or outside (do a bit of tyre kicking etc).

Other stuff: when we get closer to the time and you're sure you're coming, please send a text message to me with your name, type of car and rego number so just in case anyone gets lost en route we'll be able to call each other.

Bring along a hand-held UHF radio if you have one. These were used on a previous cruise and are a great idea.

Numbers are building, it's looking good. In another week or so I'll call the shop at Ruffy to book us in.

    Thanks guys,

    John (ph. 0427 001 803)

Please post again in this thread if you're coming.

And the list of attendees again:

    Me - in the 504.

Nigel - brother #2 in the Alfa 75 3 litre.

Stu - in the black GTI6.

J'aime la vie - John. In a 300ZX twin turbo.

DjB - Chris - in the 205 GTI.

    Possibles:

If a few of those possible turn into definites we will have a good group of guys in a nice mix of cars!

Show of hands again please folks. The date isn't far off now.

Would mind seeing some replies here. I'll be away from tomorrow morning until Friday night so won't be logging on until late Friday. I'll need to book us into the shop at Ruffy early next week so will need to know the numbers.

This will be a terrific drive! I took my wife and son away for the weekend, to Henty in NSW. On the way there we went via Yea, Highlands and Ruffy - it's an excellent drive. I also re-discovered another ripper - the Whitfield-Mansfield Road. It seems to be another popular destination for bikes and classic cars.

    I'm still keen!

Btw I was sick of my old name '306gti666' cos it's crap so I thought I'd take the opportunity to get another one when I had to re-register... haha

    Cheers,

I would not normally miss one of these, but I'm up in Sydney next weekend. I'll be moving up there somewhere around xmas time, so I'll be sure to catch up with the usual suspects before I go.

I think I have figured this out. Nobody wants to come on a cruise organised by a guy who drives a 504? Well, rest assured, this 504 driver LOVES corners, and this 504 is not embarrassed by 306s!!

My car is in Melbourne due to a spontaneously combusting sunroof, so I may in fact make it. Will keep in touch.

Cool, Tim. You might need that sunroof to be operational, though. Saturday's forecast: rain. How do you other guys feel about that?

I've just looked at the weather on Friday (33 degrees) and I'm landscaping all day so i'll see how I'm going Friday night.

As for the weather, that doesn't worry me to much. Like I said, i'll come along to the meet-up and do a bit of the drive but I have some stuff on in the afternoon.

    Chris

PS - I should also add that my 205 is in a terrible state at the moment due to me using for work at the moment.

Rain and thunderstorms id the forecast for Saturday, which is probably not ideal...

It turns out that I have a fair bit to do before Monday, which I'm hoping to get done before the weekend but at this stage that looks unlikely. I'll keep you guys updated as ti whether I'll make it along.

Fingers crossed that weather forecast changes anyway!

    Cheers,
    Stu

Maybe... how good a driver are you?

Be prepared for a postponement if the forecast doesn't improve.

Hi John when do you think you'll make the call on Sat? A nice blue sky sunny spring day would be great...in an ideal world.

    Let's see....

    Forecast for Saturday
Cloudy. Rain, heavy at times, and the chance of thunderstorms.

I'd rather not write her off!!

If we postpone for another week I might come along... in the xsara!

I'm not sure how spirited the AF runs are. Used to belong to a Porsche owners group, they were highly spirited.

Run or not the Nissan's been serviced this week in preparation. Just needs a quick cleanout inside and in biz. The weather is not such a bad thing. When explaining to SWMBO this morning that some of the AF guys were having a run tomorrow I was able to preface this subject to weather

Will stay posted.... are there any AF WAGs coming along tomorrow?
