no i've been slack the car still not finished. I will be there gawking though.
    cheers!

Ps. not actually slack, Have run out of cash putting the R18 on the road. But it's so miserly on fuel it'll very quickly pay for it self. Looking forward to next Froggy run.

Keep us all posted on lap times whoever goes.

To give you an idea I did 1:45 in a stock S1 205GTi recently, with a top speed (according to the waving needle) of around 150km/h snail .

    Good luck.

McPug what rubber were you running, street snail or R tyres? I run on street rubber for one simple reason, 2_cents 2_cents 2_cents , so I usually try to check out any other cars without R tyres and try to beat those. mallet

I ran on street tyres, Bridgestone Potenza GIII. My main problem was brake pads, I don't even know what they are (came with the car). They would fade to nothing in about 2 hard laps..

    Hi all,

I had an eventful day today, not too good in terms of results, but I learned a lot mallet

I ended up 5th in class (out of 11) after today, not too bad on street tyres but it could have been better. I ran out of brakes after three runs, so my day was fairly short cry . I set a 1:44:87 before the pedal went south, I think the car was capable of low 43s, maybe even 42s, so maybe next time. I also beached the car at turn 1 after I missed my braking point while passing a slower car, so that was a hoot. blush

I didn't see any other french cars there, but there was a corolla sportivo which was absolutely flying, in the 1:38s on street tyres, and a new mini cooper s on falken azenis tyres which was around the 1:43s, pretty poor really, I would have loved to see how a renault_ clio sport or peugeot_ 206 GTI133 would have gone. The fastest time of the day I saw (partial results) was 1:12. I will post the full results as soon as they arrive.

    Hi Matt,

I did low 1:41's at Sandown a few months back in a Clio Sport on street tyres. It was hard to get a clean run that time because I was in a group with a lot of slower cars. It was also my first ever track day, so I was being pretty careful, especially at the end of the front and back straights. My tyres were the main weak point, going off markedly after about 3-4 laps. I think a good set of semi slicks would make a huge difference. I was running EBC Greenstuff front brake pads, which held up really well throughout the day, with no fade whatsoever.

Ok everyone, the Cup day results are in.

    Sandown Cup Day Sprint Results

I am a little bit disappointed by the lack of detail in the results compared to earlier event results which are quite comprehensive, eg.. Winton Sprint Results showing car make, overall results, etc etc.

FYI, in the Sandown results for Class B, car #31/131 is the Corolla Sportivo I mentioned in an earlier post, the New Mini Cooper S is #149 (Class C), car #421 is a current model Corolla sedan, fairly standard apart from exhaust and some weight removal in the interior from what I could see.

I cannot remember any other specifics because I assumed all the details would be in the results, but I will try to get a set of results showing all the relevant information if one exists....

Gee, these Corollas are something to be reckoned with - 3rd & 4th in the class from what I can see!

Out of interest, do you remember what car was at the top of that class?

BTW - nice to meet you at DECA yesterday.

Sandown is definantly a power track, the 205 makes up more time with handling than power. At a track like Winton the difference between the quick cars here would be less, especially on the short track.

I'm keen to get my 205 out on the track again. I just sold my other car from across the channel so will devote some more time/money to the 205.

What was your to speed ? kph and or rev's in top gear?

My R10 has no speedo. i tried Sandown, in "91, got to 5500rev's in top gear, from pit row to turn one, unfortunately when i jumped on the whoa pedal, the eye broke off the steering rack. A very scarey few moments, fortunately i went straight ahead off the track.

Nice to meet you too PUG307, and all the guys at DECA, I had a great time thanks to everybody down there, so thanks to all...

I should have mentioned in the earlier post that the Corolla sportivo was entered with 2 drivers, as car #31/131, so it set 2 lots of times. I did not see the car which won the class unfortunately.

Speed at the end of the straight at Sandown was about 157km/h give or take a km or two either way, as I pretty much look at my braking point for the last 50 metres or so.
