Icon7 yes! pt II: official thread melbourne drive day sun. december 4th

    hi guys,

as you already know, the poll has now ended. the most popular date voted for melbournes final drive for 2005 is:

    SUNDAY DECEMBER 4TH!!!

these are the offical finalised details:

    DATE: SUNDAY 4TH DECEMBER

INITIAL MEET-POINT: Badger Creek Roadside Gravel Carpark, Healesville
(turn right from Maroondah Hwy, just after the Coles Supermarket). Road becomes the Mt Donna Buang Rd. See attached image.

    INITIAL MEET-TIME:
yes! pt II: official thread melbourne drive day sun. december 4th-start.jpg09:30 with a departure of 10:00. early start wont kill you. opportunity to put in a good drive before some may need to leave the cavalcade early, and leaves plenty of time to venture through more roads, and gives us the opportunity to factor in lengthy chinwag sessions at pre-determined stops/photo opps. FULL DAY'S WACK.

ROUTE: begin at Healesville through to Marysville/Lake Mountain/Mount Donna Buang, and beyond. route thereafter will be finalised in due course. An official route will be posted in the next few days, so keep your eyes peeled to this initial post!

LUNCH: will be a barbeque lunch at one of the many picnic spots. Undercover seating will be available on the day. it will be B.Y.O. so bring what you need. More often than not, others bring more than they have to, so if you forget. it aint no biggie. N.B> bring sauce... no one ever does! Lunch will give an opportunity for an extended break and another opportunity to have a bit of a chat, and rest.

so far, a great group of regular and newer froggers have expressed keen interest. if this is the finalised list of attendees, it will still be an awesome day. if any of you would like to/have wanted to drive in a cavalcade of french cars through some of victorias greatest roads, please join us!

safe and responsible driving has always been a priority on our cruises, and this later installment will be even more so.

please dont miss out, as the next drive day will almost be certainly well into the new year! and besides organising melbourne drive days are the biggest brain damage!

we hope to see all you there!

    regards,

    reggie

p.s. please confirm of your interest - in the day - in this thread. keep us posted on your situation as the date nears, so we know who to expect, and wait for... just a matter of courtesy!

if any of you have CB radios, bring them along too. i'll have two available on the day.

Looking forward to it - locked myself in for the day.
... and thrilled my Canberra round trip gets to be a week earlier this way too.

Count Rach and I in. Whether we bring 2 cars or the 1 is still up for debate.

Just frigging get someone to swap the box... I have actually managed to get it done in the time you have been talking about it.

And count me in. The car is off to Alpine Affaire next wednesday, so perhaps we could arrange for Colin to follow me in the (likely) event that it breaks down?

hehehe yeah, when the EPA dude jumped in the car he points to the switch on the console and says "what does this do" i replied "dunno it was there when i bought it" so he starts her up and flicks the switch and hears the idle go all lumpy like a wrx and just looked at me and rolled his eyes .

yeah he wasnt too fond of the throttle body ive got in the exhaust and labeled it an EPA temporary defeat device so ive got to get around to pulling that out

    Classic...

I can almost picture that scenario in my head...

Let me guess, it was a nice subtle missile launch style switch?

lol nah its a little toggle switch down near the handbrake, but get this, the cops that did the roadworthy inspection prior to the EPA pointed to the unlabeled cigarette lighter and said "what does this do", my reply "hmmm geee i reckon that might be a ciggy lighter mate" , that might be the reason my licence went missing after they went inside the station and checked it on the computer
