    Default Another Canberra GTG

How about another drive, guys? A friend from the subie/ air cooled VW contingent has offered to come out and film some antics for a beer or two. I have floated the weekends of 15th and 16th Oct, 29th Oct, 6th Nov, 12/13th Nov. Prolly best a bit later than sooner, so we can give Pete a bit of a heads up, but am keen to get it happening asap. All weekend dates excluded are when Minis cant attend or I have a daytime gig....

Some pics from today, was a good run.

More HERE, and help yourself to the full size originals if you like guys. I'll get me a better camera and will be able to improve my success per shot ratio.

    Cheers Liam

That was brilliant fun! Especially watching each other tackle an awesome piece of road. Great pics and vids, thanks heaps Liam, you're a star.

I need to try a higher psi (current 37 will try 40) in my tyres, they screech a lot! I was going too fast (for the camera), but it was controlled. Great clips.

Oh yeah, with the avi links the 206 and 306 ones are mixed up, doesn't matter but just so you know...

    Hey Guys,

Just woke up! Been asleep all afternoon, that feels better!

Really enjoyed the drive, roads were great. I loved stopping with the video on those corners. Definately do that again! I went to book in for my new tyres on the way home! Should be on in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for the pics. They came out great.

I will have to wash my car again tomorrow - unless the rain does it for me!

Yes, if anyone knows a light blue 206 GTI that was in the brindi's today - looks like they were definately having fun!

Steve, your car is so entertaining to watch - never lets me down!!

Also, how low is the front lip underneath!

We have to do that again very soon. Kyle, you should try and get down for the next one, keep your eyes peeled.

Can't wait to see Pete's footage...

As scary as this seems, that spoiler is factory. The car is 35mm lower, but the spoiler has always been stupidly low.... Note how much gap there is between the road and the body behind the front wheel. Entertaining? Damn, you should be behind the wheel..... It was great having 5 very different hatches hammering the same corner. Looking forward to doing it again.

BTW, with the wheels going that far into the guards, I think I should definitely only go another 1/2 inch wider with my outers....

Love the camera mounting. You obviously have alot of faith in it staying attached to the car.

    From the clips, I timed all the cars from the moment they pass the first white stick till they pass the end of the concrete side wall;

    Times were:
    180-8sec37
    mk2-8sec44
    gti6-8sec75

    Way to go Joel

Haha. Two things come to mind...
    1. You have a lot of time on your hands....
    2. Bloody modern cars with their electronic wizardry....

Interesting stats, although this was only one pass. I wonder how much difference there would be if we timed all the runs that way. There seemed very little in it. I reckon mine would be perhaps a bit behind Bens....

Interesting stats. Sound about right for the day. Steve is pretty quick in the golf! I think I am a bit more conservative on roads I am not sure of! I'm sure I could beat just about anyone around my suburb! he he.

We should definately do it again when my front tyres aren't bald also! I spoke to Tyrepower, should have the Michelins in soon.

Knew Joel would be the quickest! Could tell just by watching the video!

Great fun. When is the next run? Maybe 3 weeks from now?

I had ESP off for that pass, was giving it everything and was on the edge of losing traction. Hence the tyres singing as I was just powering through the corner.

Ezzat, you need to get to the next one, too much fun!! And, I believe there are more clips to come...

Next drive, three weeks sounds pretty good - Steve, do you want to float some dates on the 'tex'? Weekend of 26, 27 November or weekend after?
