Good day out, pity i had to leave early, was looking forward to going the wrong way over Mt. Glorious.

Here are some of the photo's i took (well, my brother took). I have a couple of videos i'll edit down and post.

It'd be great to have a real video camera. :p

I got t-boned (left front wheel) at an intersection by a renault scenic. Kinda ironic that i chose a french car after that. :p

Also kinda ironic that the driver of the scenic was a doctor (who ran a red light, then didn't touch the brakes).

My car was worth about 3 grand, but the scenic copped 13 grand of damage (teehee).

What a great day it was! Great to meet everyone, awesome witnessing the speed the light little 205s had mid-corner, and seeing how out of shape some of us got when pushing it. Big highlight for me was having Simon show me how to properly dive my car while he pursued (and was pursued by) Bruce along Somerset Dam. Can't wait for the next drive! If anyone wants bigger versions of these just email me: wne-at-bigpond-dot-com.

looks like you're taking some fair speed into that bend on the last one - or is it more open than it looks?

That last shot was Simon at the wheel. Yep, it was a lot of speed for the bend, the pace he kept was amazing, especially for the road surface!

Looks like you all had a top day. I woke up Saturday morning to the sound of driving rain so I thought it was in my best interest to give it a miss, however I went up later in the day for an almost perfect run over the top and down to Fernvale. In the whole run up I did not come across one car, and only 2 on the way down the back.

Yes it was indeed a great day. I'll look at posting my pics later, if they are different. Thanks again to Billy for the drive of his 180.
    Cheers Simon

Yes the 205GTi can easily keep with the 138. Nothing like carrying less weight. On the twisty stuff the 138 sure did a lot of tail wagging - it certainly was a great day had by all.

For the record there were four 205 GTis, I think two Series I and two Series II. Three 138s and two 180. If it wasn't for that dam slow motor bike we (Billy and I in his 180) would have pulled away from Bruce (138). We had fun catching him on the way back. Any 138 owner that hasn't driven a 180 under "fun" conditions is missing out. Now where can I get a second-hand 180!!!

I recond we should aim for the 2nd/3rd, or 9th/10th April for the next drive. The Saturday traffic is definitely less than Sudnay traffic.
    Cheers Simon

Billy, I'm amazed the shots you took while I was driving came out, considering the undulations on the road.

I woke at 6am and it was raining so I jumped on the BOM site (http://mirror.bom.gov.au/weather/radar/) to look at the radar. Saw it was only a small patch over the city and knew it would be fine for the day. I think there is definitely less traffic on a Saturday.

I was staggered they turned out too. The photo of the dash I remember feeling weightless for more than a moment before the shutter went off. But the ones that didn't work were atrocious!

The 205 had two up, which reduced the weight difference to about 70kg. I'm sure most of the cornering advantage comes from the suspension setup, as i didn't have to swing into the turns or left foot brake. I couldn't imagine left foot braking in a 205... there's just so much oversteer available normally.

That road along somerset was SOO bumpy. It was really good fun, my car was jostling about like all hell!

I didn't notice the 206 lifting a rear wheel (it might of, but it wasn't very noticeable), did anyone see mine going tripod? It tends to do it at the nearest hint of a corner.

David, out of those four dates the only good one for me is the 9th April. A few others I have spoken to can also only make the 9th. It would be great to see you come up for it. Also great to meet a fellow org.comm member.
