    The Aussiefrogs Banner

Might be a good idea to know what's happening with this from time to time, so why not have a thread for the purpose?

Picked it up from the Canberrans (thanks for the coffee, renweave) on Sunday, it's with me in Harden at the moment. I'll be in Bathurst Sunday, then back to Brisbane via Sydney late next week.

Presumably I will drop it off to Greenblood, but if it's needed anywhere, please let me know. I return to Moree the weekend of the 24th, then through Sydney in the next day or so.

Just an update on the banner's status. After making its way down to Victoria, it should be back in Sydney by Tuesday. It's been in WA, VIC, NSW and QLD. Wonder where else it'll go - SA, TAS or ACT (doubt it'll get to the NT).

We should all sign the back of it with a Nikko!

I actually suggested to Derek that we put stickers on the back saying where it's been - we had the baggage stickers for MEL, PER & SYD.

    Thanks Justin/ Deka,

You guys are certainly doing your bit to promote AF around the country, and in Deka's case around the globe lol. I have a second banner in the boot of my car that is doing the miles but not being seen.

By all means any member who comes in contact with the banners whack a signature on the back

    Any pics of Deca?

    Cheers

I actually joked after the WA trip about making a trup to New Zealand for a Kiwi cruise

I'll get them developed tomorrow, I'm still on the ye olde world of film photography - fortunately the lab digitises any roll of film developed with them. Having said that, when I look back at the pics from the WA trip, it's still not hard to understand that film still has its strengths over digital.

Just an update - the banner, the car and its owner are currently all alive and safe, headed back through Northern Victoria as we 'speak'. Scheduled for an on time arrival into SYD at 1800

NT cruise, hmmmn. There'd probably be better cars to do it in than Pugs though, they're not really built for outright speed - average aerodynamics not coupled with astronomical kW figures. If you want to go from A to B in the fastest possible way, take a rental car down a straight and boring road. In a Pug, if you want to go from A to B, you do so via X, Q and M using the most twisty possible roads - sure it takes longer, but just remember the big smile factor

Anyone rent out Frogmobiles out in New Zulland? I guess the new Fords are a good substitute. More to see out in Kiwi land too, I think the novelty of driving fast in a straight line would wear off for me - but it's something you have to do I guess

believe me, driving in a striaght line for an extended period of time is pretty boring
when i used to live in QLD i used to drive the Mi-16 back down from rocky to moss vale in the southern highlands
a lot of the roads out the back of taroom and such are straight and long and i used to cruise along them at around 170km/h to try and cut down the time on the road
that part worked well but i was always relieved once i got to boggabri/goondiwindi and i used to do it on a tank of fuel from rocky to there (around 750km's)
Mi-16's are pretty economical even cruising at high speed it's how you get to that speed that chews the fuel i found

back when i was living up there there wasn't anywhere along that road you could get PULP so i used to carry a jerry can just in case
the fuel light used to come on around 20km's out of goondiwindi

but yet back to driving for a long time fast i think is over rated in a pug
    just no fun at all

Just so we all know, the banner is with PUG307 in Melbourne at the moment - they have the next French Car Day.

It's looking like the BBQ could be a huge meeting.

I think we should definitely have the banner displayed proudly.

Neil and I might still have the small one under the house from the Bathurst 24hr. I will have a look while i am down there on the weekend. Neil was supposed to take it back to Chris and show him the 205 Mi16 at the same time. Something tells me he has been far too busy at work though.

The friendly lot at my local post office must be a funny lot then, I just paid for postage and left it with them I thought they normally just stick the receipt to the tube and send it off.

It's the second parcel like that I've got in the last 5 years.
The other was sent airmail from the USA from a friend... it's an American version of a postal tube (it's actually a triangular prism) and I think it has US$50 worth of 50c and $1 stamps. There's about 600mm x 100mm area of stamps down the side!!
