    suggestion for route:

    brad (ilovemypug) suggested this

aussiefroggers and their guests will meet at the Mobil/McDonalds situated on the Western Ring RD (geelong bound). unknown melway reference.

    Princes Freeway to Geelong;

FWD to Birregurra, then to Apollo Bay for lunch.

Take the GOR back thru Lorne to Geelong and then
    home.

The road from Birregurra to Skene's Creek
(Apollo Bay), beats the arse off the GOR any
day... Could always take TURTON'S TRACK which
is just a deviation... Or even WILD DOG Rd.???

    TIME ESTIMATION:
Approx 2.5 hrs there + stops (breaks) and
    Citreon rescues...
3 hrs + on return allowing for same as above.

Thought it may be better to have the short stint
    b4 lunch...

    bbq's req????
Other day travellers may have already taken
    the free, provided ones...

    any suggestions?
    feedback appreciated.

things are looking up with plenty of interest.

We may have more attendees than cruise no. 2! and gees that was a boat load of frenchies - 21 cars, 25 participants! remember the more the merrier. itd be a blast.

Be great to see all of you there.

    cheers cheers! ,

    reggie

yeah whatever really, seems like there are fifty different threads on this frign cruise mallet .

neways, good to see that some of you are keeping up the momentum wink .

theres obviously only a few more weeks left till the cruise.

hey richard and two-oh, what r your thoughts on the great ocean rd thing?

mistareno seems kinda kewl with brads (ilovemypug)idea. what r your thoughts?

how bout a meeting spot and time???

and anyone else care to share?

weve so far got a good list of aussiefrogs members, some old ... errr some new ... and the more the merrier.

remember that not all of us have met. gives us an opportunity to do just that, kinda put names to ugly faces and bag the sh!it out of citroens whistle .

even if your frogmobile looks like a heap of sh!it, or straight off the showroom floor, dont be embaresshments wink .

    itd be a hoot.

below are just a few threads that are (past)melbourne aussiefrogs cruise related for your perusal and/or persuasion. we do have a bit of a laugh and it is apparent that weve got great taste in cars but simply are disfunctional and cannot organise squat roll_lau .

    pugjet,
Please don't class me as a tight arse, simply because of empty pockets, if i were to take the f----ing fairlane on that lovely drive suggested, i couldn't afford to eat for several weeks. And on top of that all you jelly bean drivers would ragg shit outa me driving the fijord.
So i'll wait until the R18 is on the road & will attend at a 1/4 of the cost.

    peugeot_ IDEA !!!!

    Bonsoir fellow FROGGERS!!!
Another suggestion for a meeting place...
The (Mobil) servo including the golden arches
for those that forgot brekky and suddenly feel
hungry... This is on the Geelong-bound side of
the Western Ring Road, between the Western
Highway and the Westgate Freeway. This also
makes the road trip VERY accessible to
participants from Ballarat... no jokes about
Citroen's here... Would be great to have you
    along, Shane.
Suggested meeting time: 9 or 9.30 am ???

I could be a bit wrong on the timing for the
drive, as I have ever only done the trip from
Ballarat: But I shouldn't be too far off!!!

Instead of the bun-fight over BBQ's, how do
you guys reckon a good old pub meal would go???
    A truck-load easier !!!!
Place of choice is the Apollo Bay Hotel/Motel
(the first pub on the way in..)
AND THEY HAVE GUINNESS ON TAP !!! a_drink a_drink

    Chin-Chin!!!
    Brad

Yeah, having the meeting place at the Mobil servo is a good idea, well it's faster for me anyway...

Pub meal or BBQ, I don't really mind, but as we found out from the last cruise, BBQs seems to get us all chatting to each other whereas during pub meals, we seem to stick to our tables.

About the route, I've never been out that way so I can't really comment, but the section of the Princes Hwy past Geelong looks awfully plain in the Melways... Are there any other more fun/interesting/scenic roads out that way? What about the brown road that passes through Modewarre and Wurdiboluc? The rest of the route looks great, and it doesn't seem to be too long. It would be great to finally see the Great Ocean Rd. Good work guys! dance

    Cheers,
    Richard

    Thanks, silverexec!!!
True, the road from Geelong to Birregurra is
a bit dull... but from there, it hots up!!!
Am currently at a loss as to a more fun
    alternative for that section...
    any suggestion welcome!!!!

    Lunch depends upon consensus...
although I do agree about BBQ cookups!!!!

Yeah id agree with silverexec, a pub meal would be great but from a social aspect we won't be able to talk to everyone. As for the route im not to fussed i know that the trek from Melbourne to Geelong is boring and subject to speed cameras big time, im sure though after Geelong things improve :p .

hey guys, do we assume that brads idea is the "official" route or is it still early days?

if so do we also make that mobil servo the meeting place at around 9 to 0930ish?

if everything above rings true, can anyone incorprate a map to this thread with route "highlighted"?

personally, i'll go with what the majority of u decide wink ,

    wets woll cheers! ,

    Hey pugjet;
Hope you don't think I'm trying to take-over.
Thank you for getting this thing going!!!

Never gave the speed (aka REVENUE) camera
equation a thought... that would really screw up
    a great day out...
    Any thoughts; suggestions???

As for a map (highlighted), my 'puter skills
are not that advanced. Can anyone help out???

If anyone comes up with an alternate route,
    please post it here....

    I'll vote you unofficial organiser

Lets get this drive going, and prove to the rest of Australia that people in Melbourne can organise a drive, without needing a thread reaching three digits

    dance dance Thankyou mistareno!!!!

Geelong makes things easier (& 10am is okay):
There is a back way to Geelong via Bacchus-
    Marsh, but it's a lot of friggin'around...

Nice discrete cruising style, and then a bit of
    a RUN thru the hills!!!

Mobil & Golden Arches avails us of lots of
good parking (HOPEFULL)... Meet and Greet...

Okay, there are a few variables, but any
    suggestion is welcome...
    SPEED CAMERA'S SUCK!!!!

I'll try to attend (have to talk to the roster Nazi's at work).

Jason is in England so his attendence is unlikely.

Sounds like a LOT of driving for one day, particularly for us eastern suburbs yuppies.

Good work on getting the ball rolling Pugjet,

Now you know how us northern and western suburbs people feel! On the February cruise earlier this year, it took me almost 2 hours to get home after the cruise had "officially" ended, a round trip of over 500 kms! eek!

Yeah, it doesn't look like there's a good alternative to speed-camera infested Princes Fwy to Geelong. Just keep your eyes glued to your speedo and we should be fine.

The real question is ... which is the best direction to travel along GOR (at what time) that will minimise the number of caravans/trucks/buses/sunday drivers? Before mid-day or after ?

The obvious (though not necessarily right) answer would be b4 lunch. Not many would drive towards lorne and all those places on a sunday morning unless surfing which would be really early. Weekenders would do the drive back wouldn't they?

P.S nice map Signor renault and good to see u could still come despite the cruise being later than you wanted.
