Canberra French Car Day 20 July

Just a short note to say that the Canberra FCD will be on Sunday 20 July. Should be lots of great French cars in town that weekend as the Redex Re-Run will be passing through. More details later.

    Renweave-

What are the details? like where will it be this year. I may bring a few cars down from Sydney now that it doesn't clash with the Sydney FCD.

    Regards
    Kevin.

Canberra French Car Day (Sunday 20 July) will be in the same location that it has been held for the past several years, ie the lawns on the corner of King Edward Terrace and Parkes Pl, Parkes, ACT. It is opposite Questacon on one corner and Treasury on the other. The Redex Re-run will be in Canberra that weekend and cars will be flagged-off from old Parliament House (100metres away) from ~9am, so please arrive early if you want to see this. French Car Day will start after all the Redex Peugeots have been flagged away, but you are welcome to park you car at our dispaly area from 8am.

This year we will be awarding a prize for the most interesting story board about your car. You can tell about the restoration of the car, something unusual which has happened to the car, a notorious previous owner etc. Just put words &/or pictures on a story board in front of your car.

Don't forget this event next Sunday! Turn up early to see the Redex cars flagged off on their last day of the month-long trial. Here's hoping for fine weather. We are expecting at least 3 veteran French cars, didn't see any in Sydney.

    Have a good time...

    renweave,

Would you like the use of one of our Aussiefrog banners for your AFCD in Canberra it measures 2500 x 750mm. In Brisbane it apparentlty had the effect of changing dismal bleak weather into fine and sunny approve

If you are interested I will post to suitable address, the only fee would be that post is then paid for by whoever has it onto the next user, if that makes sense let me know soon so that I can get it to you on or before Friday.

Hope 'your' day is as successful as the Queensland display, look forward to feedback and pics.

    Cheers
    Chris

Thanks Greenblood, we need all the help with the weather that we can in the middle of winter in Canberra. But those measurements of 2500 x 750mm, is it 25 x 7.5cm? Please post banner to ROCC, PO Box 10 Civic Square ACT 2608. Thanks Ray, I will take your offer of return transport to Brisbane. Can someone email me the flyer that I saw in Sydney? Any sticker distributors coming?

That would be 250cm... about 8' 4" if my rough maths are right... and 2' 6" deep.

Right size to slap on a tent... have a look at the pics posted in the Brisbane day thread.

Thanks Greenblood. Can you tell me "Brad"s email so that I can contact him about the Aussiefrogs flyer as my Aussiefrogs email is a Hotmail one and I don't want to reveal my work email on the Forum. How do you privately email other forum members?

Maybe we should have a mascot, like a big dopey frog that we can create a costume for & beat up the Michelin Man!
We can hand out lollies to the little kids.
When the parents ask where the lollies came from they will say "the aussiefrog".
Thinking about it, the Michelin Man is well insulated so perhaps a beating wouldn't work :p

Hey people, Looks like I will be able to make it to Canberra FCD. I just checked with my boss and don't have to start work 3am Sunday morning as I feared.

Having never been to one of these before....I hear there is food, drink etc..... Does that I mean I might finally get to try a Frogs leg and/or snail???

Anyway, looking forward to finally meeting some of you in person! See you there.

Yes, there will be food: Pug club doing a French BBQ (but sorry no snails) and a cappucino van (maybe that should be esspresso).

The banner arrived, thanks, and Luke will be the Aussiefrogs contact on the day.

Hope to have both my Renault and Pug there, maybe the Pug bike too...

Glad to say that we should have a sunny, but crisp, winter day.

Must remember to put AF sticker on the 306 tomorrow.

It was a great display....I even won a Michelin hat after I left. Unfortunately some obeservant bastard has already commented on the similarities between myself and the Michelin Man...hmm.

    Great work people.

    cheers!

Unfortunately arrived too late, been out conducting a 4wd course finished too late to see much, there were a few cars left but most had packed up and gone home. Was even later due to the Starter trying to free itself from the motor. I wish the French understood how useful a stud is instead of a bolt and nut when you can only get to one end of it. Oh well guess there is always next year.

I'm still recovering from yesterday, but it was a good display. Only 56 cars registered, even though it was free, but many more than that on display. Will have to check the tally sheet tonight to know how many of each marque, but Peugeot had the most cars there. The Redex start nearby certainly attracted a lot more cars and people to our FCD this year. I had both my cars there and caught up with many Fellow Froggers. It was nice to be able to put faces to names/nicknames, but sorry I didn't have much spare time to catch up with many of you. The banner was on display, but I forgot to get a photo. Did anyone else?

I only got out for 45-odd minutes in the morning, cos I had to work, but some very nice cars. Having been to Sydney last year I was impressed with the Canberra turnout.

Should've given my 505 a polish and parked her for the day.

(I spent most of my time ogling the motor of the R8G, which I'd spotted in Alpine Motors before. When I had my 10, a rev-loving friend took a look at the motor and said "My lawnmower's got a bigger engine than that." I wish I'd brought him. :-P.)

Okay, I'll be able to get into Canberra weekend of August 2 & 3. Where can I pick up the banner?

Of course, a cuppa would be nice too...
