Icon4 Grand display of French Car day dates around Aus

With Bastille Day only a few months away it would be good to get all venues & dates together (like previous years) so we can place it all prominantly up the top of this forum.

For starters I can't find anywhere on the Cit, Pug, Reno QLD club sites the date for Brisbane I'm away Sun the 4th July. It's usually around the 14th, 11th is a Sunday.

In the past it's been TAS, QLD & NSW on the same day, with ACT a week after. VIC had their's later in the year. What about WA, SA?

If you know dates, venues, please reply so we can get the list happening

    Hi gibgib,

Sydney is on the 11th July, run by the Pug Club. Same place as last year, Silverwater Park, from 9.30am.

AFAIK there is not one in the ACT this year. Instead they are having a "Battle of Waterloo" display on 20th June at Reconciliation Place, King Edward Terrace, Parkes. Luke from the ACT Reno Club is organising the Frog end, with the Canberra Morris Minor Club organising the Pommy side.

The Brisbane "Grand Display of French Cars" is on the 11th July at the same place at the Uni at St Lucia in front of Mayne Hall. I think that is what it is called, the hall that is. Same chevron setout pattern as last year, but hopefully there will be lines marked for ease of organisation. The chaiman of the committee is a Cit person, but the pattern gives good visual effect.

There will be the usual French fare, and burgers and such available. There is a coffee stand with real coffee and sweet pastries to go with it.

It would be nice if everyone was in place by 9am, but Cit people don't seem to get out of bed until 11 on Sunday.

Will there be "aussiefrogs" stands at the various venues?
..........and by the way; here's one Cit person who if he didn't get out of bed before 11am wouldn't get there before it all finished.

    Thanks for the information.
I will get a list happening.

What's the go with Vic this year?

If you've never been to a French Car day I'd recommend you at least stop for a look, or better still, enter your car. I don't think Car Club membership is mandatory.

It's the biggest event of the year for the French Car Clubs!

Brad organised the aussiefrogs stand up here last year. I think it went well.
I can have a go at getting a copy of the forum to work on a PC unlike last year. vBulletin could prove easier.

    (if gerry lets me)
    Why wouldn't I 'ole son?

The 11th is good for me

    I'd guess at least 150.
There were more than 150 in Brisbane last year.

You certainly don't need to be a club member to put your car on display in Brisbane, or probably any where else. It would be nice if you could arrive by 9 am to make the logistics of aligning the cars easier.

It is pretty much over at 2.30, although I am usually still packing at 4, with a couple of dozen hangers on still talking.

Your car certainly does not need to be in top condition, a lot aren't, and generally modified ones get more attention. Being of French origin is the only stipulation. We get up to six Simcas some years, and if you happen to have a Bugatti, Delahaye, or the like, I am sure we can accomodate you.
There should be an Alpine A610 on display this year, and probably a GTA as well.

There were quite a few people at the Sydney one last year, and quite a few AF members cars.

I'm sure Derek will rustle up the troops once again.

I'll be there with my 205.

Has anything been discussed about this yet??
If so who's going and what cars will they be bringing as the amount of room at Qld Uni last year wasn't all that great if a fair number turned up.
I know some members here who are members of the Queensland Clubs of the marques can or will go to the varios club stands but don't we have to get approval from the various 'Heads of State' to be there as our own entity?

    hEY alan,

Last year there was enough room for us. Most of our guys turn up later in the day. Maybe we could get some numbers from people wanting to be on the af turf?

I'll be there again for sure this year.

I am trying to get a "french Crape" maker to come along and set up his stall, but he thinks he has another 'event' on that day (If any1 lives near Chatswood, go to the outdoor markets in the mall, just down fromn chatswood station every thursday night you can taste his french pankcakes )

Last year I only stayed for about 2 or 3 hours, I will stay longer this year I think.

Last year there were 4 sections of the show hehehe:

    Peugeots
    Renaults
    Citroens
    AussieFrogs

The AFers at the Sydney show last year occupied a little grassy hill.

I will be there in my car and my mate will hopefully turn up in his 206XRS

I think this has changed more recently, last year we had ours in February, this year it was held on the 18th of April.

Not sure what 2005's dates are, it's not our responsibility this time I think

Likewise if you happen to have a spare Delage or Hispano Suiza, but I won't hold my breath.

I'll be there again this year. I imagine Neil will be keen to show of his new Clio Sport too.

I should be at the Sydney day.

Finally I'll have a car worth parking inside the event, rather than in the carpark outside

The Poms don't get as traditional as we do here with the Bastille Day and all that, but they are having one in a few days.
Here's a link to their event for anyone interested.
