    Default Wogs & Frogs - Tasmania 7/11

For those in Tasmania at the time, our annual Frogs & Wogs display in on again on Saturday 7th November (easy to remember: 7/11).

A joint event of some Tasmanian Italian & French car clubs, the event will be held this year in the car park of the National Automobile Museum of Tasmania in Launceston.

All welcome; it's usually a good event. Among other delights, we hope to have on display two French coupes of the 60s which are each unique in Australia: a Panhard 24 CT & a Matra Djet.

A poster is attached & if anyone wants more information, then PM me.

    cheers! Peter

Thanks to COL for putting those pics up. I've just moved to Tassie and this was my first car outing and I was about to put my own pics up. But I'll put just one up - our car! We've only had it a week and - in lieu of anything old and french currently in the fleet - thought we'd add a modern perspective.

There weren't a lot of cars there but a big thumbs up for the quality and range of what was there.

Why not put more up? - Especially if you have some of vehicles which are not featured by Col.

We were only in town on the Saturday. There was another dark coloured (black) one (not a Premium, naturally - 'sniff' ) at the show which may have been from a local dealer (?).

And I love this Tassie deal, btw - fantastic roads up and back from Hobart!!

does anyone know the history of the White R8?
Back in the mid 90's I did a motorcycle tour of tassie and stayed with a friend in Hobart. I don't recall exactly where but south Hobart rings a bell. There was a white R8 parked on the street nearby and a couple of times I went in and spoke to the owner enquiring if it was for sale on that trip and a subsequent trip there. At that stage his wife had just passed away (it was her car) and he wasn't ready to part with it; intending to restore it "one day" - just curious if it might be the same car?

Looks a little funny now I look at it. Must be an early R1132 or 1130 as no C pillar strip and seems to have R10 front bumper. The rear view mirror is different too - still, if it has undergone a full resto who knows?

Almost certainly not the same car.

It's a sort of pale yellow with a green tinge (to my eye) & has just been finished after a restoration project of around 3 years.

It's Launceston based & the starting point for it was a shell in grey primer which had been in storage for some years by the "go-to" Renault mechanic in Launceston. (I contemplated having it as a spare shell in case my - coincidentally white - R8 got smacked but decided I'd rather transfer the bits to a Dauphine if that happened & I was still alive.)

He's done a very nice job of it. A better fate for it than hanging around waiting for me to smash something.

    cheers! Peter

Probably because they were not there when I had my camera out or there were to many people standing in front of them when I was taking photos and never got back to them.
