Freeway Frenzy Hillclimb Day - Sat 26/07/03

This was posted on Performance Forums and thought a few of us might be interested. I'd be interested in getting a group to go up together and compete.

    Anyone interested???

    Freeway Frenzy Hillclimb Day

    When: Saturday 26th July 2003.
Where: Ringwood, 15mins north of Newcastle.
Cost: $150 per person. Accordingly this price has been configured to 30 people attending. Closing date for full payments is 26th May 2003. No money, no drive!

    Details:

To book your spot on the day, you will need to email me direct on [email protected] . I will then send you an application form for you to fill out and either mail back or fax back to my father, Peter Finlay. Upon receipt of full payment you will be sent some course joining instructions which will include directions of how to get there.

Helmets are available for hire at $10 extra per person for the day. You will be required to wear full length clothing head to toe. NO thongs or open shoes.

    Fire extinguishers are NOT compulsory.

Course to be done in your own car.

It will be a full day from approx 8.30am. We will be aiming to get everyone 8 timed runs with practise runs first up. The day will consist of a briefing/track walk, a short lecture on cornering concepts and instructor accompanied runs to begin with. Solo runs will follow with all times being displayed with split/section times.

All questions and enquires should be emailled direct to me on [email protected]

    From Simon,

    "GDay,
There is no CAMS licence requirement at all. It is a closed private training day provided by my father Peter Finlay.
    Cheers

    Simon Finlay"

I could be interested. Need to check the diary.

I joined Newcastle MG car club this year, with the intention of competing in their Hillclimb events (engine rebuilding has delayed the start). At $40 per year it's cheap to join and they few Private Ptactice days throughout the year. Highlights of the year are the Buladelah (old Pacific Hwy.) and King Edward Park events.

Suzuki(pug wannabe) should be on the road by then and would have done fwe laps of Wakefield.

I would love to take the pug but I couldnt possibly treat it rough by racing it.
Suzuki spares are cheap enough on the other hand and the lower power output should keep "red mist" under control.

    I may be interested.

It sounds like fun, but Simon Finlay is a bit of a knob. I'll be suprised if he can pull together a succeful day.

*sitting and waiting for more info*

I've sort of known his father for many years. He's cost me money on occasion, and speaks very badly about me. Just what Simon might be like, I don't know. I wouldn't pre-judge him, but I would have nothing to do with his father.

$150 for a day at Ringwood is too steep for me. Particularly when there's timed open practice the weekend before for members.

Ringwood has a hillclimb... but as I recall, it's the only place in Australia not steep enough to have a hillclimb.

How can it be too steep for you?
