I heard someone (there today) saying they had 62! Either way, it was a fantastic turnout! I took my lovely lady along and we enjoyed sharing a snail crepe and a strawberry delight crepe on our picnic blanket. Then we grabbed a coffee each and headed around to check out the Grand Display. The DS Cabriolets (both of them) were among the highlights for me, as well as a couple of beautiful SMs. There was a beautifully turned out 604, a stunning red CX, a gorgeous little Ami......there was a wonderful array of wonderful French cars to see, of all levels of condition, and I thought it was just great to see them ALL there......all treasured by their respective and respectful owners.
Perhaps the stand out for me, though, was a certain blue Fregate. I think it looks even better in the "flesh" than in the photos, and knowing what it looked like when it was sitting in the paddock out at Hattonvale. I think it looks just fantastic, and those overriders are just amazing. The upholstery, the paint, the panel work and fabrication.....EVERYthing. Just gorgeous. I'm going to go back over the build thread again, just for the inspiration it gives me.
There was a beautiful white 404, and a couple of really nice 504s.....a beautiful old two-tone (grey on the bottom) 403......some of those DSs were just absolutely stunning. There was also that beautiful little blue R8 Gordini, not to mention a lovely bronze coloured R17 the hails from Boonah. I love the shape of the R17......always have. I had a matchbox version when I was a kid and it was one of my favourite toys, along with my matchbox CX (a blue one) and my "Majorette" 604 in burgundy, complete with opening bonnet. Sometimes I think of looking on eBay to replace them, lol.......it's funny the power that nostalgia holds!!
Such a great display, and we look forward to it every year.

Pretty well sums it up for me. . .
Graham's Fregate is so much better in real life - hard to believe the result of one mans work. Huge effort Graham, a hearty congratulations from me. . .

I had two designated photographers so hopefully we should have some pics of the day, to see 60+ Ds in the one place at the same time was a sight to behold, well done Queensland and to those that put this years event together.

    Cheers

We mightn't be welcome back again as we took home some of the silver wear..

Let's not forget that you had a hand in this Chris.

I couldn't stay for the presentations but I'm absolutely thrilled for you. Some nice cars and restorations but Genevieve was a standout. It's great that you have the recognition you deserve from your peers.

    Hi Guys,

What a fantastic day - and I'm just awestruck with the fact that we got over 60 D models there on the day. A huge thank you to all those who made the effort to get their D along...!

My standout on the day was Alec's Prestige - what a stunning car...! I only had the chance to see it briefly a couple of years ago - this year I got a decent look, WOW is all I can say....!

I also have to congratulate both Liz and Adrian who put together a first class A4 mag for the event - they did a fantastic job...!

Here are a few pics from the Citroen side of things...

    Cheers,

    Mark...

It was good to see so many cherished cars, and great to see a few cars that hadn't been to a French Car Day before.
I'd never seen even a photo of that Simca coupe - it must be a rarity, and so tidy looking.
Thanks to the organisers for a superb day.
