Default Melbourne March AF Weekend 6-7MAR04

So we have the Grand Prix, the Motorshow and a bunch of lost tourists from Sydney - why not have an Aussiefrogs dinner . It's been a month since our last event in Melbourne.

As we have several interstate guests living close to the city, not to mention the fact that Lincoln/GTI124 will have driven for hours since the wee hours of the morning, it's probably best that we choose somewhere central in Melbourne. Lygon St should be buzzing with Grand Prix fever (just make sure you dare not speak a bad word about Ferrari too loudly).

Book Saturday 6th March 2004 in your diaries.

It's been suggested by our resident Italian, Luca, that Tiamo at 305 Lygon St, Carlton is a good place to eat (N.B change of venue from Donninis, Luca's advised Tiamo is better for a group meet). To make it easy, lets just meet there at 7:00 PM. Given that this area will be quite busy this weekend, it's wise to turn up early to find parking (alternatively there are carparks in the area). A map has been attached to this post.

Several of us are headed to the Grand Prix the following day, we should all be at the dinner so we can finalise that on Saturday night. The Motorshow is also on, but we all have different tastes in cars.

The weather outlook is good for Saturday

Please indicate your interest on this thread or send me a PM. Given it's a busy weekend, I'll have to make bookings.

Lets put on a good show for our fellow Aussiefroggers from the north. I've experienced hospitality from our Brisbane and Sydney based Aussiefroggers, and I'm sure they'd reciprocate any hospitality to any of us headed north. Also remember we have Dave/MY 4 headed down here for the Comedy Festival in a few weeks.

    See you on Saturday!

Thanks Justin for taking the initiative to get something concrete worked out; Melbourne-itis almost looked like it was going to strike again

I'll be there for the Saturday dinner and have my Sunday ticket for the GP all ready.

    Sounds good!

Not too sure about having dinner with a group of guys at a restaurant called 'I LOVE YOU'.....but I will take the chance.

I will be there, so too will J4RS, there will also be another 2 mates, 1 who used to drive a Peugeot, and the other wishes he did!(That makes 4 total)

But Italian food!!!! Those guys can't cook!! Bunch of try hards they are!!

You can never be sure with Derek, who knows, maybe he wants to reclaim his mantle as Aussiefrogs Traveller of the Year 2004

I'm sitting on 4,339km flown on AF trips for 2004
(don't worry I didn' t have to bust my brain to work that out, I just checked my frequent flyer statement - btw, I did do other things apart from aussiefrogging on these trips!)

Don't think we have anyone to volunteer their Clio Sport in Melbourne, the only Aussiefrogger with profile down here had his sunk in the floods a little while back. It's been replaced by a rex!

Anyway, Luca better be there, he's the one whose good taste we're booking on (he suggested Tiamo). Don't worry, Peter tested it out today and has given it the thumbs up and we've got a reservation now. Thanks

Numbers are looking reasonable, about 13 people on the books at the moment. Put your name down if you're coming as we've got a reservation and it's a busy time of the year in this part of the world.

I think you misunderstood, we were going to drive around to the dealers and take their demo cars for an outright hammering, I would never ask someone to give myself, J4RS, Luca, and Licoln a car to test it's limits.

Hey Justin, I don't know if you got the message I left on your phone, but I should be OK to come tomorrow night.

Problem is, out of all the things that could have happened, I got stung by a bee right at the back of my head and I've been buggered all day, what with tetanus shots and antibiotics and stuff that I have to take. I should be all clear by tomorrow night but just in case, I hope it doesn't make things awkward with the booking if I can't make it.

Hopefully I'll see you all tomorrow then!

    Cheers,
    Richard

    G'day,

Justin, I just got your PM.

I will be in the City tommorrow but I am going straight from the Grand Prix to the Motor Show with an old friend of mine who's visiting from Boston.

I might try and pop in and say G'day but I think staying for dinner will be pushing it a little...

BTW, my mate from Boston also drives one of those bloody ugly Ford Focus thingys.......

    Anyway, I'll maybe seeya tommorrow.

    Regards,
    mistareno

P.S - I've just noticed that the Go-kart thread got wiped in the recent umm....upgrade

So I thought I would take this opportunity (as unchallenged AF Kart supremo) to remind you that you ALL suck at Go Karts
