Redex Rerun start gathering ?

Anyone interested in a gathering at the start of the Redex rerun in June?

Maybe after we watch the cars go we could all meet up for a drink/lunch/carpark
gathering afterwards?

Graham Wallis - you'll be too busy!

Yeah you're uncle Rob is going along with my father.

My father just fitted a single throat Weber 34ICH carb to his 203 today ready for the re-run. It's the same size as the late 404 carby, so it bolts straight on, with a little filing of the accelerator linkages.

I was talking to Keith Bridge on the phone the other night and he's finally got the 2.2 STI engine and 5 speed in his 203, ready for the Redex rerun. He said it was a bastard of a job with everything barely clearing the bodyshell, etc. Lucky the fire wall was already modified for the Holden 6 that was in it, otherwise it would have been even more work.

You're uncle Rob was telling me about Robert Baker's 403 project for the Redex. Apparently it's a jacked up 403 wagon with 2.2 STI engine and 504 IRS. I can't wait to check that one out. Have you seen it yet?

i have heard about it but haven't seen it
i was talking to him ages ago about wanting to do a 403 wagon with Mi-16 engine, 5spd box and 504 IRS rear end in it and then he got to thinking that he might do something similar for the re-run
i have been toying with the idea for years of fitting the IRS into a 403 wagon but so many have told me it wouldn't fit (i couldn't believe that) and why would i want a 403 wagon
the idea of the Mi-16 engine is something that i would still like to try

out of curiousity people did you know that rego plates that were on the car that Ken Tubman drove are available at the NSW RTA ?
i thought they would have been snapped up by someone with a 203 by now for the re-run

I don't know about the plates, but if you go to Maitland and you're quick, you can pinch the street sign 'Ken Tubman Drive' and display it on your car...

The event starts in the morning of the 22nd of June at Fox Studios. Cars will then drive to Maitland Park for a Concours (BEFORE the motorsport and outback driving)!
The next day they will drive to Armidale etc. etc.
The Tubman platea are taken, Alex Sloane from Savernake has them on his 203.
The event will be a combination of touring, motorsport and vehicle displays (with plenty of public participation going by the interest being stirred up at the moment)
We have the original car 1 from 1953 entered (1934 Chrysler Airflow!) multi state champion and Southern Cross winner Barry Ferguson, former ARC champion Bob Watson is doing the second half in a 203, 3 203s from Europe, including Paris to Peking and Cape to Paris Rerun cars. 70 pre 1970 Peugeots in all.
The 1974 World Cup rally winning Citroen will make an appearance at Bundaberg, a Citroen Light 15 that competed in 1954 is entered, and we look like having Jack Murray's 1948 Ford (the "Grey Ghost) at the start or Maitland.
Go to www.peugeot.com.au for more information or just email me, the organiser, my full time job at the moment
