In fact it looks like the old Chrysler factory in South Australia (Keswick I think), they assembled the Simca there from 1956 to 1964. The Simca's shown are the Aronde 90A and I see two with the unique "Tilley" side mouldings and yes there is a black Vedette "Beaulieu".

Ausdis Holdings gained the concession to assemble Simcas in June 1955. The figure of 3000 per year was quoted with an Australian content of 40%. Assembly at the rate of ten a day began in September in the plant in Macauley Rd North Melbourne built and run by an Ausdis subsidiary, Northern Engineering. Another subsidiary, Ausdis Used Cars was restructured to handle sales and distribution. It was renamed Continental and General Distributors. Later on assembly was moved to a new purpose built factory on Dougherty Road, West Heidelberg. After Chrysler took over Simca it was decided to move Simca assembly to Chrysler's Keswick plant in Adelaide. Production began there in June 1959 and by August Keswick Simcas were on the market.
The plethora of photos on the net purporting to be of Simca assembly in a plant in Moorabbin can be traced to a mislabelled file in the Museum of Victoria.
To sum up, there is no evidence of a Simca assembly works in Moorabbin. It is a confusion with the Canada Cycle and Motor Company works in Keys Rd, assembling Peugeot and Studebaker. I have never seen any reference to Simcas being assembled there under contract. That plant did come under the control of a restructured Continental and General Distributors in early 1959 after the company obtained the Australian concession for Peugeot. The changeover for Simca moving to Keswick and Peugeot and Studebaker moving to West Heidelberg took place in June 1959 with press announcements in August. As Continental and General fitted their own assembly plate to vehicles they assembled and it included the address of the plant if any Simcas were assembled in Moorabbin they will be plated as such.
