    Default Matra interior parts wanted.

    Hi,

I am looking for an ashtray and an old radio from the late sixties for the Matra. I think that to get an authentic one will be a bonus but because of the French car content in the Matra I am hoping someone could identify the ashtray in the pictures. Then I can start looking for one. Maybe a radio as well.

The pictures are the best I could get.

Sooner or later Frans, I suspect that you might decide that joining Club Djet would be a good thing. :-)

    Hi, Frans,
I have a 60's Matsushita (later to become known as National Panasonic) radio with pre-select buttons similar to your picture. It's in working order, but don't expect it to have the base/volume of a modern unit. It is medium wave only, no FM. If you want it , it's yours for the cost of postage.

    Regards,
    Henry

    Hi Frans,
Here are pics of an ashtray from the back door of an R12 or 16. It's a different style but about the same size (115 X 65).

Thanks Bob. I will contact the Matra club as 4cvg suggested. I haven't yet. If it is determined from what car it originates I will ask again. Better than guessing and maybe its the wrong one

    Frans.

It looks like it could be from a very early Peugeot 404 sedan or the 404 Coupe/Cabrio (both models appear to use the same part).

Just checked the parts catalogue, P/N ashtray 8229.06 with the retaining bracket 8205.06

Thank you Simon, your detail is unreal. I will visit our local Pug Guru.

What can we say, Simon you're spot-on. It is from a 404 Cabrio/Coupe from my source at the Matra club. And thanks for that extra info about the early 404 Sedan. It makes the possibilities so much better.

    Thanks
    Frans

A 404 parts catalogue is worth its weight in toilet paper. Just some extra info now that the parts have been confirmed. It was only used in the 1960 model year 404 sedan, up to chassis number 4 108 820, and 4 504 091 (for the 404 sedan with Jaeger clutch), and it was also used in the front centre armrest of the post 1967 US spec cars.
