Default Battle of Waterloo 20 June Canberra

Hi Fellow Froggies

Its on again. The annual Battle of Waterloo confrontation between French and British cars. There is a new venue - Patrick White Lawns next to the National Library in Parkes. Easy access from just over Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, turn left into King Edward Terrace and then left into Parkes Place. This venue has better views across Lake Burley Griffin and is highly visible to passing traffic.

Date is Sunday 20 June from 9am to 3pm. The event is again being sponsored by Shannons. Last year the event was attended by 57 vehicles, including a number from Sydney, with the French side being victors yet again although the Brits won most of the door prizes - bottles of "The Arrogant Frog".

All French and British car enthusiasts are welcome. Entry is free and coffee, drinks and food will be available.

I will try my best to come along again, although I will (unfortunately) be on the wrong side of the battle this year....

Hopefully a rejuvenated UFO will be at this event. Thanks for the heads up and I will include it in the upcoming "Chevrons" so CCCNSW members are aware.

You don't need to be a member of a car club, but joining one means you get to hear about these things, meet some interesting people, share knowledge and enjoy camaraderie with other like minded individuals.....

No, there is no class at all, except maybe some of the ladies.

On the day, all the frenchies line up on one side of the line in no particular order, and the British do the same on their side of the line.
There are the usual shy ones who park outside the area and get hastled to come on in with their usually great looking car.
Whoever's line stretches the furthest with the most cars wins.
Most the cars are daily drivers, and there is thankfully little snob value in most of our cars.

Are any of the usual crew doing the drive from Sydney?? Addo, Dave, Simon anyone else??
I think a mate might be convinced to come down in his MG.

Jo

CCCNSW is putting a convoy of sorts together:

What: Battle of Waterloo - Canberra - French v English Car Clubs display day
When: Sunday 20 June 10am onwards
Where: Convoy leaving Pheasants Nest southbound Mobil S/S at 8am. Meet at venue “Patrick White Garden” near National Library. Lunch in a suitable location nearby. Contact Darren Davis 0410 538 746 or Craig Keller 0418 484 798. Bring your UHF radio if you have one too so we can stay in touch.

I was planning to attend. But unfortunately a certain P-plater was let loose on our roads this morning and my 605 fell victim. If I can get it sorted by the 20th (usually 3 months by the time all the parts come from France) then I'll attend.

A small part of the BPG ( Bargo Peugeot Group) will meet you en route as due to the works at the "Nest" the underpass is closed and we cannot get to the sth side without travelling back to the Picton RD.

ergo: we will leave about the same time so keep watch for Peppi and Quasimodo.

bon chance

Default ? wot peddaling faster?

Due to certain legal restrictions we will be cruising at a stately 90kms.

Reason: son is on red Ps in Quasimodo ( his 18th birthday present 205)

Of course Peppi has the cruising diff to keep up.
