Default 2CV meeting in Brisbane

I wonder if the Brisbane 2cv folks would like to meet around the last week-end in March. A couple of 2cv’ers have expressed interest in a get together. I’m not familiar with what Brisbane can offer; maybe someone would be kind enough to suggest a place to meet. Maybe a little drive first, what do you think?

Look forward to visit Brisbane again

Cheers

Default I'm in!

Great idea, Viking!

What about Saturday 29 March?
Or Sunday 30?

Ideas for meeting place:
- DS Motors?
- New Farm Park?
- Mount Cootha botanical Gardens car park?

Idea for a drive:
- Mount Glorious (about 30 kms return?)

Any other suggestions?

I have been contacted by 2 other 2CVers who both are interested in a get together.

Lauri suggests:

"Sunday 30th March should be okay for me and a meeting place of New Farm Park, then off to Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious would be really good.
Suggestion to make the starting point to New Farm Park, let's say have morning tea at the start, then head off to Mt Nebo for lunch at Boombana Café (can recommend this one). Then, we could add the afternoon part of the drive so we end up back in Brisbane; perhaps with afternoon tea and farewells at Mt Coot-tha or somewhere."

Icon2 Glorious 2CV drive to the mountain

Hi, I have made a few executive decisions, as I also wanted the event to be advertised in the local Citroen club magazine and website, and have come up with the following:

Sunday 30 March 2008

We are planning a bit of a get together and a drive for all ugly ducklings and their drivers.
We will meet before 10 in New Farm Park (Brisbane), and make our way up to Mount Glorious via Mount Nebo.
There we could have some lunch at Boombana Café.
And then back down the mountain somehow.

We look forward to see you on the day.

I will try to get to this day as long as it's somewhere in QLD, but it all depends on other stuff, like family commitments

Hi everybody

Just an update about the "Great Snail Race".

The event will also be advertised in this month's local Citroen club magazine, which means it is now an "official Citroen club event"!

Details (proposed):

- Meet before 10 at New Farm Park: bring morning tea supplies if you feel like it
- Up to Mt Nebo for lunch at Boombana Café (suggested by Laurie)
- Then on to Mt Glorious
- and finish at Anja & Stephane's for coffee and muffins (see previous post).

Of course, this is just a suggestion, although the meeting place and time cannot be changed now that the Citroen club magazine is ready for the printer.

Suggested trip map and directions

Lance from DS Motors has also given me a list of some local 2CVers, and I have started contacting these people.
So far it looks like we should have at least ten starters.

See you there!

Default Up, up and away!

G'day everybody

Just to let you know, I have done my sums and we have 12 definite starters (that's cars - not people), and a further 4 who want to come, but could not commit last time I contacted them.
I will contact them again shortly: the more the merrier.

Lauri has made a booking for lunch at Café Boombana, Mt Nebo, overlooking the magnificent valley scenery!!

See you on Sunday, 10am at New Farm park, Brunswick Street!

Cheers

Well what can I say? What a fantastic day meeting the Brisbane folks and their 2cv’s. Perfect weather, lovely drive through the hills with a few stops for coffee and lunch. Finished at Anja & Stephane Laguna in
Kurwongbah, see attached photos.

Great day. Thanks to everyone for making this day special.

Cheers Viking bastard

I got too much sun with the duck roof open but this was a great easy nice outing. Never seen so many 2CV's in one go!

Thankyou to poirot for organising & to Anja & Stephane for the last pit stop (it really was for one duck).

Got some video to sort out but here's a few pics.

i just so happened to be "in the area" of new farm park this morning to see these guys and won some brownie points with the wife for taking the kids to the park...

the weather, well you could not of asked for better!! its why we live in queenland.

nothing slows traffic like a unusually large number of 2CV's..it was funny watching people when the penny dropped and they realised it was an organised get together. they look great in convoy.

well done all.

Icon2 Let's do it again!

What a day, just great to catch up with all the other 2CV lovers out there.
Everybody attending wants to do it again!

If you're a 2CV lover and want to join us on the next drive, contact me by emailing john@wizz.to, and we'll keep you in the loop.

I am happy to keep a bit of a 2CV register for Queensland 2CV-ers, and even Northern New South Wales 2CV-ers.

Laurie and I are also happy to organise the next drive, so any suggestions are welcome.
We'll just have to make sure Laurie does not get lost again

Thanks a lot to everybody for a lovely day!

John

PS: My family in Belgium could not believe we got that many together, and there are probably twice as many around Brisbane.

I've watched the video 6 times & it makes me want to go for a drive. Anything to give me a reason to be somewhere in the 2CV is totally cool with me wherever it is..
