Hey Cal and all other baggers of me and my car preferences.
You would have been delighted to see the top 10 cars after the Prologue stage at Targa. 7 Porsches (there Luca, no need to see a doctor :P ) 1 Ultima in 3rd place driven by - shock horror - a QLD Westfield owner and club member 1 Westfield Clubman (i don't care how modified) 1 Nissan Skyrice! To save you all the effort, i will add the following points that i'm sure you will use as an excuse.. - It's only the first stage and not a true indication - The Nissan is 4WD so thats cheating - the Ultima and Westfield's are purpose built race cars

I was just about to start a thread about Targa. Was just preparing info when I see you beat me to it.
Porsches, yeah no crap and you've never heard me bag a Porker. I am glad Guy managed to get the thing that high. Let's see what happens when the road get bumpy today and tomorrow. I wish them well though. I am barracking for Ray and John myself. That ain't a Westfield fool. I really hope you aren't comparing a targa preped GTR to your car. They share a badge. That's all. Cal.

oh god you crack me up.
why the hell would i be comparing my car with it? its for sale now anyway, so don't get your knickers in a knot. i was just putting that crap there to get a rise out of you which obviously was easy. $2 billion dollars says if a french car was on the top 10 list you would all be bragging. so go the mighty skyline - the GTR had to start somewhere ps, just got a phone call from the dude with the GTR. he is interested in buying my car so he can put my engine in his so that next year he is in the top 3, not just top 10. also, i am unable to meet up this weekend cause i'll be at the cost. adam will be having some drinks in my absence though i believe. |

SKELTA BOSS LEADS TARGA TASMANIA CATEGORY Managing Director of the Queensland based Skelta Sports Car Company, Ray Vandersee has shown he’s no slouch behind the wheel, recording an impressive first up run during today’s 4.5 km Prologue stage of the International tarmac feature, Targa Tasmania Rally. The Skelta G-Force designer clocked a time of 3 minutes 22.4 seconds in his Westfield Clubman to be the fastest finisher in the Modern Clubman category. ... Vandersee is using the Targa Tasmania Rally as a marketing opportunity for the Skelta G-Force with all support vehicles and the Westfield Clubman emblazoned with Skelta imagery. Once again, to save you time.. "you're an idiot Drew if you even try to claim that Ray's car is a Westfield. Just because it has the same shape and general design, doesn't mean its even close. Hell, that's like saying those French rally cars in the WRC are the same as my car." See how convenient it is to change the argument when it suits? |

Hardly!
It will either be another R31 or an MX5 (1989 import). Hopefully the 31, cause it goes like the clappers. Gotta get it up on a hoist first. My car is advertised on carsales if anyone you know (with tatse) wants it. |

Cal, you don;t get my argument.
Suburu still claim a WRC rally car, but how many of those compnents are on an Imprezza GX? Ferrari claim an F1, but how much of that appears on a 360? Ford claim a V8 S/C, but how much of that comes standard on a Forte? I don't care if it has inboard shocks, carbon fibre shell, S2000 running gear etc etc etc. You still have to call it something, and it is predominantly a Westfield Clubman, as anyone else in the world will admit. In a clubman, you can't have a black and white print-out of what components make it one thing or another. If this was the case, what's to say that because our Westy uses a skyline steering column, it can no longer be called a Westfield. I know this is an extremely mild modification example, but where do you draw the line? Just get over the fact that i have some pride in Westfields, as does Ray Vandersee, so stop trying to put them down. Call the thing a Pug if it excits you, it's not going to change the fact it started life as a very standard Westfield Clubman. If i put $100k into my crappy skyline, does that make it transform to a Dodge Viper?? No, its still a Skyline. |

Oh I see. No worries. I drive the same car to work that Ari Vatanen drove up Pikes Peak in 1988.

if you have to pry him off a Harley i would have to question his taste :P
Nah just kidding. It should sell pretty easily, there aren't too many about these days, so don't feel sorry for me everyone. I was actually worried i might get done for false advertising, because under Cal's guidelines, now that i have put on aftermarket components, its wrong to call it a Skyline.

I hate to bring this thread back to the topic, Targa, but how many French cars are actually entered, does anyone know?
I'd really be interested following the progress if any are... I do love my rally, one off Tarmac or otherwise! Tim!

sorry i only have Monroe's and Pedders.
I didn't realise it was illegal to run anything other than fully adjustables or coil-overs on a near 20 year old $5000 car. i will take it off the 'for sale' section immediately and spend $5000 on the suspension so that i can realise at least another $200 when i then try to sell it again. thanks for the pointer. |
