Default R8 hits town

My R8 from Queensland has finally arrived but is now in the hands of quarantine. It was found to have ants in it plus some parts came in cardboard fruit boxes. Wont be released for 2 weeks due to the large work load.
Went over the other day fired her up and runs sweet.
All good news and looking forward to getting it home and starting.
I have attached pics of the growing family.
I can see spare time is going to be at a premium.

Regarding rotors, R8/R10 rotors (new!) do appear from time to time on ebay France. You get there by www.ebay.fr in case you haven't done this. They don't appear on global searches through www.ebay.com.au as they are listed in France for sale in France. Search for R8. There was a pair on "buy it now" last week - may still be there for all I know.

French sellers are getting more attuned to PayPal too, which helps more than slightly.

Of course you may be going further with flash brakes, but if you want originals, they are not completely unavailable, just nearly so.

Good luck...

Default Old R8

G/Day Peter
Yes that is she. The three R8's that were on ebay were all mine of which I sold to the guy plus all the parts and spares. That was some time ago, I had bought a business and needed the room and had to sell. I regret the sale but everything happens for a reason. I have 2 x R8's now and will build another streeter faster and better than the first. I learnt a lot and will change a few things this time around. I have a better car to start with this time.

Default Reno's and Spinner

That has crossed my mind but I have decided that I will do both. The spinner is a long term project as it has a lack of metal where metal should be. The steel work will take me a while to do.
The Spinner will be on display at this years Whiteman Park car show. It is being displayed by Stripped Bare Blasters as a before and after on diamond blast treatment. They will blast part of the car to show the effect of the diamond treatment.
I have taken a while to find the R8's again so they will stay this time and the Spinner was a bonus. It is a rare car and has a lot of interest from the States as they have never seen the Ute of the model 1949.

just beware that if you are going to do a resto on the spinner the fornt end suspension changed between 49 and 50

the reason is you can actually drive a 50 model, the 49's were shocking

Default 49 Spinner

The good news is my mate has the twin car to mine. The car I have was his spare that he has given to me to resto. His is licenced and hot rodded on the road with a 351. I will post the picture tomorrow on here showing the licenced 49 towing mine on a trailer. We will have a pair of 49's in Perth that will look cool. I can use his going car as a template for mine as his goes superb and sounds awesome.
Dont forget my 49 Ute will be on display at Whiteman Park on Sunday at the Stripped Blasting stand. I will take a few snaps and post them on Monday.
I will post my progress of the 49 Ford here with my other projects but I dont know how the Frogs in the pond will take to it.
We will see.

Default R8 in town

It has been 3 weeks and still I have not got the R8 out of Quarantine. I went over the other day to see how things where progressing and there she was still sitting in the same spot. They are behind on some mining gear so it will be another 2 weeks. When I first went over on its arrival they parked it up and left the keys in it. I walked in the yard checked over the car and started it up before anyone spoke to me. I soon ripped the keys out and got them to stick thme in the office.
Getting prep'd at home ready for the pull down and it has been a painful wait for the car.
I reshuffled the workshop and made room ready to wheel the R8 in.
I will be picking up the Dauphine on the 17th April and then I will need to make another slot for her as well, house too big, workshop not big enough ?

Know the feeling - can't wait to pick-up your old metalic green R8 mid next week!

Bigger garage - smaller house - sounds like a plan!
