Default C6 to be discontinued?

I happened to find this interesting link on the PSA website, according to which production of C6s plummeted from 7,300 to just 1,700 units between 2008 and 2009. It looks to me that, with the arrival of the DS5, the C6 is destined to end its run.

Here's the link:

And another good one:

Cheers,
Paul

Interesting to see that Citroen STILL make Xantias, Xaras and the ZX in 2008. I wonder where?

Xsara probably refers to the Picasso, still available in Europe. Xantias and ZXs are being produced for the Chinese market, AFAIK.

There are still several discontinued western models produced in various factorys around the world...

Saipa in Iran is one that does the Xantia...and looks like it is about to start the C4 and C5...

Default C6

Those PDF dont explicitly say anything about the C6 being discontinued though. They just show numbers have seriously dropped off. Great to see the C3 still a shining star in the figures.

The c6 will soon get a facelift with addition of LEDs up front.
After that it will still be produced for another 4 or 5 years.

Those numbers are staggering.

PSA made more than double the number of vehicles in one year than they made in total of Citroen DS over 20 years.

Astounding numbers of cars, astounding!

Not bad, but in doing a fair comparison would you not include all the models that were also built and sold during the life of the DS/ID? That would include TA, 2CV, Dyane, Mehari, GS, AMI, SM and CX.

Regardless it is good that PSA continues to survive and build cars.

Astounding. And confirmed everyday when driving around by the number of Peugeot/Citroen you see driving around Australian cities - which, to PSA is a minute market-
Whilst they haven't even tried to market them here all that much, they have penetrated even this market because they make the type of cars people now want.
For the first 20 years I lived in Australia, I would not see Citroens for months on the road, sometime the odd Peugeot 504. Today if you don't see 10 PSA cars on your way home, I would be surprised. Congratulations, PSA.

Default On the mark

I think we should be grateful to see they are still bothering with Australia and how tiny it is though. It is very good news. The figures are fantastic though. Now all we need is some interesting models to be sold out here like the 1007 and Citroen C1 and C8.

The market segment in France is dead but the tooling and design are sunk costs, so I don't see why they shouldn't hang in there for years with this very exclusive model. I understood that the DS5 was to be pointed at the mid range BMW point.

Default C6 discontinued

Don't they still make a version of the DS in Mexico?

Yes, I know - might I not even raise a smile?

You're right, they do - with a Beetle engine in the boot. Why didn't the French think of that - far simpler...

They do. And I like the Ford Mustang in your avatar.
