Nup, not with the stated curb weight from the manufacturer, plus they are 2L.
Of course you can make them weigh under 1T but that’s not what you started with.

sorry to be pedantic, but the Clio 172 - 200 Sport were actually 1998cc, so just under 2 litre......

I was waiting for this, and you are being pedantic Malcolm. The manufacturer claimed it was a 2L in their promotional material. So even though it was 2cc short, that makes it 2L in my book!

A couple of other interesting vehicles:

A Datsun 1597; or the infamous 1797B, a Renault 1397, an escort RS1998 or a mini minor 998. Not to forget the ubiquitous Morris 1098

Agree Kevin. You are correct to call it a 2 Litre. The subject of this restoration started as a race car under two litre so I assume it is for a race track and not rallying. The competition rules for engine capacity class structure in most circuit racing usually states that the engine is either under or over 2 Litre. If it is 2 Litre or more it is in the next capacity class. If a car is busted for being slightly oversize it is disqualified.
2 litre race engines are usually 1998cc or an oversize rounded up to 1999cc. For example, the FIA Formula 2 World Chamionship for cars with 2 Litre engines was dominated by BMW and Honda with a 1998cc engine. F2 cars at that time were always referred to as 2 Litre powered although they were all just under 2 Litre.

The ex Niki Lauda BMW GP5 GT car I raced for BMW was always referred to by BMW as “The 2 Litre car”. It has a 1998cc engine.

When I used to run speed events many year ago, the classes were often

    under 2000
    2001 - 3000

Or variations on that theme so a vehicle of less than or equal to 2000cc would run under 2L by definition. Perhaps the original poster was referring to that fact?

Slightly different to your definition - I'm talking club events like hillclimbs, supersprints and the like, not open race meets.

I'm arguing against myself now of course but that's not unusual!

cute car, any pictures of before you start the track conversion? I know nothing about C2s so any blurb on why you chose it and what your going to do will be most entertaining for me.
