    Default 205 SI heart transplant

My 205 SI is getting a new heart
It's a gti6 motor, full 205 gti suspension drive shafts, vts box, quafe LSD, 205 SI heart transplant-image.jpg
Are there any 205 SI's out there that are modified?
    Regards Jamie

Yes, the rear arb. It has 20 mm rear tbs. No front arb. This is to give good articulation on rough roads, no problem with body roll and handling is excellent.

Don't think the brace would fit with a standard si airbox anyway,
I'll get some of those wheels one day, I'm sure my favorite hammer will make 'em fit.

What year / model is the donor, I am after the top cover for the steering column, S1 in my case, they seem hard to find, black in colour so it seems? Is this at all possible?

The donor is obviously very well looked after, lots of work to keep it like that.

    Thanks for even considering it!.

Hammer is for the wheel arches, and a hacksaw for the plastic bits.
I have got 185 60 15 rally tyres onto my Si with a lot of cutting and hitting. They do touch occasionally but OK.
If you don't want to use all the travel as I do then you may get away with less.

I don't have any problem with my Si and the wheels rubbing at the moment, as you can see I have 15in gti rims on it.
It might be a diferent story when I fit the lowered gti suspension.
    I will keep you posted

If you aren't using ALL the travel there isn't a big problem.

Both these cars would have power steering, I am after the battery distribution bracket if the wreck has one?

This weekend I pulled the K frame and front struts out, the struts are Koni yellow's with lowered eibach springs.
The bump stops are non existent, and the rubber bellow are stuffed.
I have a set ot 205 bump stops and bellow that I brought off eBay and a set of standard top mount bearing and rubber.
So I have a few questions.
1 those of you that have used Koni adjustable shocke's where have you set them?
2 the bump stops are 97mm will they work ok or are they to long?
    3 should I use group n rubbers.
On the back it has lip rear shock's should I get Koni yellow rears ,or I do have a set of VTS rear shock's.
    Regards Jamie

This weekend I fitted the k frame from the gti into the SI.
It fitted well even though the front mounting points are slightly different.
From my rough measurements it sits about 5mm lower, nether here nor there.
The front struts are Koni yellow's I pulled them apart to fit new top mounts rubbers, top bearing and to give them a clean.
I adjusted the first one with no problem and fitted the SI bump stop and boot.
Then I did the second one and it wouldn't adjust.
So I looked at Google couldn't find anything
I looked at a new set and in the discription it says that you can't use any lower than 30mm and bump stops must be fitted.
As there were no bump stops I figured this must be the problem.
I figured I had nothing to lose so I pulled it apart, and bingo there it was the bottom fingers that local in to turn the valve were bent,
Straighten them up and it worked, few that just saved me $500.00
So the next job is to clean up the front brakes I think they are 307 disks and callipers they are the same diameter as the gti6 but a thicker disc
    Regards Jamie.

    A update
I swapped the rear beam and the brake lines out of the gti in to the SI today.
Every thing was a straight swap the gti rear end is lowered about 50mm,it looks good.
I have to bring the rear bar back to gain a bit more clearance for the tyres.
On the front I had to reposition the brake line brackets and swap the steel brake line from the master cylinder as Si set up fouled on the drop links, and the gti brake hoses wouldn't fit.
So next I can start to plan the installation of the motor. So many options my soninlaw is trying to get me to put a turbo on it, so we will see what happens
