    Default Turbo 205 conversion build

    Finally getting near to the end of inserting the XU10J2TE motor from Xantia into series 1.5 205. With the battery removed to the rear of the car it has freed up alot of space in the bay which is dearly needed with turbo motors.
    Really happy also that i have nearly 15cms between radiator and motor.

    Yes the XU10J2TE is the PSA 8-valve 2 litre motor with factory turbo. Was fitted to Xantias, XMs, 406s and 605s. Only the Xantia Turbo CT was sold here (I have one ).

    JR, my XU10J2TE has a blown headgasket, so might be a chance to 'improve' the engine. Have you rebuilt yours - if so have you modified anything?

    Cheers

    You can fit an early 205 gti camshaft. Or have one reground by PeterT. A little more work but also fitting a better inlet manifold can help. The 205 gti manifold works. Not sure about all the sensors required to make it work an how they would fit onto that manifold. I'm sure it would not be hard. You can also up the boost a little by using a manual controller. The standard computer can run up to 1 bar/14 psi. That will net you a nice gain I would think!!

    DKZ cam, electronic boost controller and a decent ECU is needed to get the best out of it.

    i agree.... the items that really hold this motor back is the shocker of an exhaust manifold and little space for a bigger turbo. All costing mega $$ to change and then there is the aftermarket ECU which would really be the bees knees....however i am going just for a mild setup so keeping it mainly stock with just the 1bar boost upgrade. The good thing about this turbo assembly is it has basically no lag so will be interesting in a light car such as the 205 rather than the luxo barges it normally lives in.

    Been tying up loose ends on it today and just found that the swaybar is 17mm.....WTF !!! More chasing around for a correct one:}

    Thx Cam. Mmmmm....the BMC is a little outstanding problem yet to be done :{ If i can get a smaller booster that would be the dogs bollocks and do the trick me thinks. Have you heard of any smaller boosters being used and if so which one [a Datto 180b one has been mentioned but they are rarer than 205's LOL

    Today update....did new brake lines, sway bar bushes, drop links and extended some sensor wires on the loom so as to fit the ECU well away from the turbo area. The Ecu is going where the battery was as it is a major job to extend the loom into the cars interior.
    The ECU will have its own box and maybe fitting a 12v fan from a PC to keep it coolish.
