    Default 306 Track / club car s16

As some of you may know we run the 306 Group A rally car, which is alot of fun, but it does seem a bit of a waste to use it in motorkhanas, Khanacrosses and other light duty events. So we now have a very basic 306 s16 to play with. It was really cheap, runs and seems ok for light duty events.

I will post up pics as we build it into a basic club car.

Why don't you put some R spec tyres on the Grp A and come to some light duty supersprints?

yes, will do some super sprints in it. On rally tyres we got 1.15 at Wakefield so we should be up a couple of seconds on tyres softer than concrete! Its getting a bit of love at the moment with a new cam belt, suspension rebuild and some other work , back out in Jan.

The pointy end of the class is doing low 11's to mid 10's now!

Hi 205 Maxi, I was competing at Wakefield Park when you were there on rally tyres. Brave man, and well done!

Yes, It was a bit difficult, tyres where almost impossible to get any heat into them. But fast along they straights! Plenty to learn next time a think we should pick up a few seconds. Its probably to hard to get a dedicated track set up, but still great fun.

I am looking around for some 17 rims so I can go to a better quality track tyre, to run correct gearing on 15" I need a 70 series tyre so its a challenging option. 306's with a 5.5 ratio are a bit of a challenge - its pretty much 195/ 55 / 17 gives 1% difference

What do you call correct gearing? I run to 8100. I would have thought your setup would be perfect for Wakefield. 15" tyres are much cheaper.

A 195/55/15 series tyre and 8100 rpm in my gearbox is 165km/h which is not ideal. A 205/55/16 would give 177. I know is not about top speed but ideally 180 km/h is what we are aiming for. I may try to find a 5.1 ratio and stick to 15's. This all seems a little slow? The engine was originally built for 10000 rpm, but a rebuild every 20 competition hours is not for me, hence a 8100 rpm limit!!!
