I would seriously think about a new diesel megane if they had a better dealer network. That is the biggest problem for renault now.

When I was in the US last year on holidays, they were offering 0% with nothing to pay for 6 months

Not that I'm suggesting Renault follow - it smacked of desperation to me!

If you can put up with diesel service intervals of 15,000km and bugger all warranty problems I suggest a trip to an out of town dealer once a year wouldn't be too much of a problem.........Thinking about it, you'd probably enjoy the drive!

I'd say similar fundamentals would apply in Australia. The lower the finance rate, the greater the amount of dead stock taking up space. Hence Holden also presently having a similar, though not as low, special finance rate sale on selected slow moving stock.

    36 - 0%
    48mths 1.9%
    60 mths 3.9%

I am thinking seriously of updating the wifes Fluence to either Koleos or Latitude diesel.
TRade will cover 50% of purchase price set a 40% residual after 36 mths and pay back $4k interest free over 3 yrs ...mthly payment - bugger all !
Tried 50% deposit and 50% residual and pay nothing for 36 mths but that is clasified as a structured loan which they wont allow ...bummer

Soon they will be giving them away! This worries me as they obviously cannot sell their cars. Re-sale values will be further decimated as a consequence. I am particularly p****d off because I bought mine a few months ago for top dollar and no concessions. Should have waited. But then, a clairvoyant I am not.
On a positive note: I have noticed that certain dealer's Renault premises are being dragged out from back-yard sheds and redeveloped as stand-alone Renault-only showrooms to reflect the prestigious international image that the Renault marque deserves. Great tangible progress at last! That at least makes me feel better about my choice of vehicle.

Nothing new though, especially in the US.
My mother moved there back in 1985 when she married a yank. She was an official alien been in the country 5 minutes and bought a brand new Civic with 0% and the first payment due in a month.

Did they put the service interval back to 15000km? I do my oil changes at 15000km because it is all country km, and the same engine has 15000 in the UK. But I thought all Renaults were 10000 in Australia. Fixed price servicing isn't much use if I have to drive for 3 hr to the nearest dealer. The main problem is no-one in Bathurst will even look at a Renault if I need repairs. I don't like driving to sydney in limp mode.

I think the biggest issue here is the depreciation ( or end value) of the car after this period.
This need to be factored in with any financial decision.

Drove past Cartwright Renault / Citroen Gold Coast today and the dealership was empty. Their Used car yard / Chery was also abandoned. Who knows?

Guys, I cant see how finance offers will effect resale. The car prices arent been ripped up. Renault is not providing financial assitance to lower car prices.
It is a value add offer . If anything it will put more renaults on the road (all sold within normal retail margins) if anything with would firm up resale. More cars, steady sale prices, many trading cars still under warranty. To me that means better resale prospects.

Yes i am seriously thinking of updating the family Fluence. Would be either Koleos or Latitude (wife not an SUV fan i must admit)

Any 'inducements', be they 'free' accessories, or gift vouchers, or no-cost/low-cost servicing, or the famous 'demonstrator bargains' (often with no km on the clock!), or 'cash-back' offers, as well as low interest loans, are in effect 'discounts' on the list price, while pretending not to 'rip up' the car's list price. For instance, a no-interest loan over three years on say a $33,000 vehicle (a base model Koleos auto) saves interest amounting to a staggering $7,600 on a regular car loan (or personal loan) from a bank. That is effectively a discount on the RRP and reduces the purchase price of the vehicle to around $25,400! That is the undisguised reality.

Not exactly if you borrow at bank interest the car actually costs $40,600. So at 0% interest the car still costs $33,000. Provided you don't need to borrow money to buy it, get it on a 0% interest loan and leave your $ in a term deposit account and earn interest on $33,000. Then you do make some money and in effect the car is cheaper.

I think the resale value will be driven down by the people who will sell it s/h being more likely to accept a lower price given that they didn't pay interest on the loan.

There's that petulant streak again! Never mind, as I have explained many times before, if you are buying your new car, any car, and considering it an investment, you are in Loony Land. I buy my cars to drive and enjoy. I lose money on them. Sadly, I own a business which owns the car.

This is a Renault forum post about CARS which interest me, and was the reason I originally joined Aussie Froggies, and I will probably post on the CAR forums from time to time,
BUT not the toad pond which I have no intention in participating in ever again.
Just a clarification for you and your fellow active members of the international Socialist movement who repeatedly hijack every post on any subject by any member who doesn't subscribe to your doctrines and dares to disagree with you. Clear enough Comrade?

They will hopefully wake up one morning as one of my brothers did in the mid 80's & realise that their minds had been programmed & manipulated by others who had an alteria motive & wanted to use others as puppets & pawns in their plan of a 'Total Takeover'.His wake up call was that he realised that the way he had been manipulated had destroyed his family & his life-which it did Completely.

Kids today are taught that there is no future & no hope to the point where a good friend of mine recently spoke to a young girl who had ha 7 or 8 of her closest friends 'pull the pin' in a very short time .

    HOW UNBELIEVABLY TRAGIC.

What bugs me is that they make out that they are so brave & tough but they have the morals & integrity of a Cane Toad AND DO NOT HAVE ONE THREAD ON DECENCY OR RESPECT FOR ANOTHER LIFE OR FUTURE.

Quite honesty I do not care what a person believes in because that is where they are at because of a myriad of circumstances but I have no time for the CHARLETONS who cannot be honest as to where they want to take others.

UNDERSTAND THAT THE FIRST PRINCIPAL OF SOCIALISM & COMMUNISM IS TO DENY THE EXISTENCE OT THE CREATOR--down the list is to EXPAND THEIR PHILOSOPHY BE INFILTRATING PLACES OF INFLUENCE-which INCLUDES PLACES OF EDUCATION -WHICH INCLUDES THE CHURCHES.

Hence the Prophetic pre-exposure of the Coat of Alms of the Fabian Party-to which Penny Wong spoke recently-& also publicly[recently ] ridiculed Tony Abbot because he advocating that he was going to spend $50m p.a. YET SHE IS BORROWING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN $100 & $147 Billion a day.AND DO NOT EVER FORGET THAT WE YES WE NOT HER HAS TO PAY BACK THAT DEBT-WHICH IS GOING IN TO THE LAND OR THE IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHICH THERE PLAN -BANKRUPT ALL OF US & OUR COUNTRY.

Also remember that the Labor Party is Marxist Party -Hitler ran a National Socialist Party -WE HAVE A SOCIALIST PARTY-If you are a little confused a mate of mine says -''SAME BLOKE DIFFERENT HAIRCUT''.

Maybe it has never been explained to some but you & I will all live for EVER.YES.
To add to this if you have bought the lie that hell does not exist then A. the guy who spent 1/3 of his life speaking about it was a liar but also that when you have spent a little time there -like I have then you may like to send me a note-I just don't want to see you end up there -So no apologies for my note.

There is not one of you who not more valuable than the'sum total of all things that have or ever will be created'
My story & I am sticking to it.

    Pekay.
