....Still love that feeling of finding a rust free original early 16. This one is an R1150, 1969 model, Alpine White, still dressed in original paint work.

One went through the auctions this week. I tried to load it up but can't get it to work.

It sold for $250 Buyer unknown. Hope it wasn't a scrapy.

Gee, I would have thought the day's of an R16 turning up at a auction were long gone! Havn't even seen one a pick-a-part now for a good 7+ years or so now.

We should take a leaf out of the Triumph TR and AH boys' book. They get togehter and say right, we're not going to sell this model for under ?. That's why their prices are so high

Do you recon it'll work? Thats what the 504 guys are doing to try and out price the Egyptians. I don't think they've sold any.

If you buy with no real intention to sell, and just want to enjoy the car, why not? Eventually the market becomes accustomed to the "normal" price when a sale occurs. Thing is, there will be plenty of other punters out there who may end up needing to sell, at any price.

Actually I'm quite surprised by the number of one-owner (not just one-family owned) 1960's cars that have popped up for sale of late. Some don't seem to think they are actually worth a lot (actually a guy in a rusty toothpaste blue one-owner HT Holden Kingy 161 Powerglide I bumped into the other day at the servo was an exception), they just would like to see the car looked after in a similar fashion. Then second owners get hold of them for a steal, then indulge in a little bit of eXtORtIon.......

Getting back on topic, that 16 looks a lovely well preserved example. And is the exact type and colour that was my first introduction to Renault way back when, being taken on a Citroen Car Club of SA treasure hunt.

Lovely. I still reckon the 16 is one of the great cars. Full stop.
