Maybe they just want to go out in style.

Looks like it skated a few hundred metres inverted by the scratches on the bonnet. Obviously couldn't find a tree in time.....

could be the negative has been flipped, but I also thought it looked like it had 10S side stripes (which was an Oz only thing)?

The wipers and nose badge are on the correct sides for it to be a RHD car. It looks somewhere tropical given the surrounds, and the substantial rusting on the old 10, not even a badly Electrophoresisised Renault would rust that quickly if it was only rolled in say the last week. :-)

I'm guessing the person with the car is wondering when the piece of junk is going to get moved.......

If that's the case it looks like the car in the picture suffered from both understeer and oversteer.
Because he has managed to hit both ends.

I hope he isn't in front of a no standing any time sign, or he could be in trouble.

Hard to tell if the driver or passenger is hurting more, because it's hard to tell if the steering wheel has sifted to the left or the right in the accident (cant tell if left or right hand drive)

Have a close look at the axis of the steering wheel. It is pointing to the left of the vehicle.
