    Default Matt colours

Just been having a little look at the Angels and Demons limited ed on carsales, and tthe majority seem to be in matt colours. Dont think i am a fan TBH - here's some links

Surely "hero" cars deserve better than such a flat paint finish

    compare it to this:

The A&D is only available as matte... Grey or Red.

Fruit images shown are illustrative of flavour only and are not ingredients of the product.

They look cool, but the dealer I bought megane from expressed reservations about the longevity of the fashion and effect on resale (although it is a Renault and they don't actually have any as such).

I'd go for matte black vinyl wrap myself on a black RSM R26 and paint the Bembos black. Yummy... Automotive equivalent of teh ship Zaphod Beeeblebrox nicks from Millyways

One of the chaps I work with was recently in the market for a new Clio and was put off by the matt paint. When he went for a test drive in one, he noticed when they got back, the trade plate had marked the paint work where it had been hung . He wasn't too comforted by how easily it was blemished. Can just imagine damaging it getting bugs off the front after an interstate blast ! Luckily it didn't stop him from changing from his much loved Rex to a new Clio, he just had to go to Melbourne to source a nice (very shiny) yellow one and drive it back. He seems wrapped with it
    cheers,

    John

    a) They look brilliant.
    b) Most buyers have no idea how fragile the paint is.

we are having that issue..... people love the car and look but say the paint will be too hard to look after .

Personally i would love to own one ...... but would have trouble parting with the 172 ...too much fun !

Rick i think its a step backwards, especially after the look of the "Gordini Editions"
I certainly wouldnt be spending the coin on it if i had it.... Which is a shame cause the rest of the package is VERY appealing

You can take the gloss off any paint. I've taken it off the sides and roofs of a couple of cars in my career! If you are going to do the whole car may I suggest you consider something like below, almost always in a pleasant matte finish:

As the owner of a Hologramme grey a&d it's interesting to hear all the misconceptions about the Matt finish. Yes you need to care for the paint, no high pressure hose and no automatic car washes, but it's not a chore, it's how any car enthusiast would treat their car. Who here is going to let bird poo sit on their car, regards if it's Matt or not it will damage the car if left for too long.

I use the swissvax opaque products on the car, it's been filthy, driven through muddy dirt roads, heavy rain, road grime, bird poo etc etc and it comes back new, no blemishes, marks etc. It should also be taken into account that the roof and front of the car are gloss black so insects on a drive can be high pressured off, along with the wheels, roof and diffuser which I have protected with zymol carbon wax.

Personally I hand wash the car with ph neutral soap, then hand dry the car with a swissvax towel and it comes out perfect. So contrary to belief that the finish can't be treated etc I recommend that you do some research before dismissing the car based on misconceptions about Matt finishes.

I love detailing my cars and take pride in the way I look after them, having a Matt finish just makes me even more fastidious about the finish.

I'm going to reapply the swissvax wax this weekend after 3 months of ownership, not that I really need to but that's how I look after my cars!

The Matt paint is very durable and like any paint finish if you don't care for it, it won't last.

personally, i dont get the idea...
    *it is a fad
*few people want it, or ever will, so when you sell the go, 1 in 20 (fewer?) will even consider it
*for the last 50 years, people wanted really shiny cars, now they want matt ones?
*the same could have always been achieved with 1000 grade wet n dry, for free, but now people will pay more for the manufacturer to do it for them?
