Default Fathersday came early as well

I have just redeemed a voucher that I got from my son for a drive in a Lamborghini Murciellago around Hampton Downs. Yes, me being the driver but unfortunately an instructor with me in the car. I think that will be an outlap, 2 hotlaps, and then the cooldown lap. Then 2 hotlaps as passenger in a full race Evo 10, and then 2 hotlaps in a Lotus Exige, me being the driver.

I have booked it for 24 October thinking/hoping that the chances is good that it will be a dry day.

    Now isn't that cool?

    Regards
    Frans.

That's the chance of a life time, nearly as good as winning lotto.
I'm sure you're going to enjoy it. I need a son like that!

    Cheers, Henry

Frans, you will be a fortunate man indeed to drive a Murcielago PLUS the other cars. Not only that, but when it's over, you can just walk away -- no worries about the car, no need to trailer it home. Something to remember, all right. And we'll want pictorial evidence, don't forget!

You've reminded me of an opportunity I missed to drive a nice car. On holiday with my wife in Italy recently, we visited the Ferrari museum in the pretty little village of Maranello. On the long walk to the museum, I was amazed by the sight and sound of various Ferraris driving fast along the streets. It was only as I was leaving that I discovered I could have had a 20-minute fang in one of them (accompanied) for the princely sum of about $90. Oh well...

My friends got me something similar for my 40th, but I got to drive a V8 racecar around Eastern Creek for 5 laps, it's something I'll never forget!
But a Lambo! Now that would something else, I'm sure you'll enjoy the experience Frans.
    Cheers Renomad

    Hi,

And yes it was a great experience. Thanks my boy!

Obviously it was a once in a lifetime event and it was thrilling to have that 600 horses at your command. The instructor was good and sort of gave me free reigns although he was to quick with his brake commands. The feel is good and everything happens without a kick in the back but surely it impresses one. Overtaking had to be under instructions from the two instructors. They were in radio contact with one another and you could only overtake when they said so. I think I pushed the hardest of all (bragging) because there were some very slow drivers on the track as can be seen on one of the videos.

The gearbox was much worse than my racecar's one. It was almost impossible to get it into first through the chicane.(temporary chicane in the middle of the main straight). The gates of the gearstick was ok but a lot of force was needed to get first. It was harder shifting in the other gears as well.

The hotlaps in the EVO X and Lotus was good but the drivers didn't do any different tricks than what I'm used to when out on the track during a race. They didn't really hit the limits and they themselves wasn't wearing helmets. So they didn't go ten tenths.

Attached is a few pictures and links to the videos.

    Hi Frans

Glad you had a great day, the pics look good too, some nice cars there.

They reckon you should never drive a super car cause it shatters the dream; the notchy gearbox, harsh ride, not eay to get in & out of, etc.

    Anyway i'm green with envy.

I get the impression you just stopped short from saying the Italians CAN produce fantastic motors cars even if they only produce 600 horse power. It is time you give credit where it is due Ha ha

Harry you know the story. The Itas has only made two proper things in life..and Sophia Loren has both of them.

I could actually feel the respect radiating from the Lambo when I got in wearing my Renault shirt.
