Default just gave my fuego a sex change

Of late, the appearence of my fuego has troubled me, as it has moved on from the nice little girl I started with 3 years ago, and is now a slightly beaten up war horse after numerous encounters with 4x4 and otherwise much bigger and tougher cars.
The rear end is painted black to stop it looking so bent.

Last week I had a flat tyre out of home for the first time in 20 years, and the (non matching) spare was put on.

Whilst it was on I was pondering the wrongness of my car and thought about going full tough look on the wheels, so grabbed a black spray can and painted the spare.
It worked because the wheels now look as crap as the rest of the car.

Deciding to try the black look on all 4, the rims got switched at the tyre shop and I spent yesterday prepping and painting the wheels.
The paint used was satin black enamel from a spray can.
The car needs to be lowered a bit now just to finish it off. (Having spent a whole day up on blocks, the suspension is still a little high in this photo.)

that looks really great, jo. calling it a sex change is quite apt; the black wheels do masculinisize it significantly, and to good effect.

Yes I like the look of the black wheels and, with the bonnet bulge, looks very manly

In that picture they look crap but in the flesh, especialy from in front, they look great, which is lucky because they are totally ornamental.

Ha ha, one of the new Chery models has a sticker (which will probably fall off) saying roof racks are ornamental & not for use !
    cheers,

I had Rola roof racks like that on my Fuego.
One day I was bringing home an R10 bonnet and I heard a bump on the roof, I looked in the rear vision mirror and there was the bonnet, complete with roof racks still attached doing a rap dance in the middle lane of the freeway.
I was only doing 80Km/h to avoid such a disaster, but to no avail!
To rub salt into the wound, it managed to partially rip off the gutter trims as well!
Anywoo, enough of my tales of woe.
I like the black wheels Jo, they match the black trim on the fuego and are a good contrast to the white!
    Cheers Renomad
