At this stage of the game, I'd say whatever you can get. If new or NOS Koni is available, they would be my preference. Otherwise it would be the best ones you can find, and if that is a NOS set of Australian Monroe-Wylies, dated post-1971 it would be those. As apart from the initial poor quality 1970/71 batch , they seem to have had few issues over the life of the 16.

The shocks that were fitted, were they local content shocks (Munroe) ??? Because in ZA all Renaults came out with genuine DeCarbon Renault shocks. And they were always available (at decent prices) from the Renault Spares. I still have one new set of 16TS units in my spares box. I never would use Munroe on my cars in ZA as they were junk, always used Gabriels.

"Passing through Adelaide we presented the receptionist at Monroe Wylie with our collection of broken shockers and our compliments. (!##*!)"

    They sure weren't Konis!

Must have been a fun trip Kim!! Ouch.
Refer my comments above to geckoeng! It was a great trip and we both learned a great technique for crossing spoon drains and cattle grids at speed with no shockers. I still use it on speed humps!

Hi Sarosa, somehow missed this post from you many months ago, sounds like the same car, would love any information, photos etc if the offer still stands !. cheers Marc

It's active as such that most 16's known have been recorded along with there details etc. There is no newsletter now as a group on facebook has been created and group members can post things there and get immediate responses. I appreciate not everyone is on or likes facebook but it is very convenient and requires no admin etc . If you have a facebook account just look up "Australian R16 Register" and ask to join the group. We also get feeds in there from Geert, the great R16 parts supplier from the Netherlands about his latest products. His R16 shop has effectively made the need for a local spare parts sourcing a bit less urgent these day's. His parts supply list for the R16 is exhaustive and I never imagined it possible only 5 years ago.

Also it's the 50th anniversary of the R16 in Australia this year and long-time R16 owner Mike Neill is keen to hear from R16's owners to keep in the loop about any events been organised. I think he has most from the register but maybe not any new ones.

    it's a (oval plate) R1151 146100 Valley Green
    (diamond) 2657870
    10 70 2657870

Thought id add my new 16TS...bought on ebay for $1469...what a bargain and drives well
....In the locked glovebox was the original owners manual and handbook !!! yee ha
plus the 5000 km service receipt and other receipts from Virage motora as well as golden fleece motors
The original owner was Nicholas Contanedes of 19 peel st Collingwood, car bought from Renault at 449 punt rd,richmond 10th nov 1970
reg being KTB 912...the original sales receipt says list price as $2930 plus $120 for reg, third party ins, stamp duty and pre delivery plus a locking petrol cap for $2.42 making $3050 less house discount of $380 paying $2670...green and bone being original combo.
on the 6/4/1974 Nicolas sold the car to George Dimitriou of 46 gore st Fitzroy and I have the RWC from then...George then owned the car until his death...last service being 2005 at citro but even in 2018 the car still has 2000 miles to go before being due for it's next service...lol
It is beginning to look like the miles are original and not around the clock..

    spotlights..faded reflectors
    heater knob
16TS badge located on the dash needs a chrome look surround
