    Default Feb 2011 sales

    Hi all,

Renault have released sales figures for Feb 2011.

The news is all good. Sales Feb 2010 v Feb 2011 up 64 units or 68% in 2010.

Dealership enquiry up 83% on Feb 2010.

As i were not sitting in the Reanult Hot seat Feb 2010 i dont know if that mean Feb 2010
was shocking or 2011 has started well.

March will also see a bigger advertising presence for Megane and Fluence .

I see the glass is starting to look half full.

    Rick,
Renault sold 180 cars in Feb 2010. Have you got a breakdown of the 2011 Feb sales by model? with the sale of the kangoo and trafic down, sales must be from megane and koleos?

Sales in Jan 2011 were 177 units, 12 up on Jan 2010. If feb is indeed 69 units up, then this good.

    Rick, hi
I am interested in the breakdown by model i.e. Koleos, Megane, Fluence, Clio etc Would be interesting to see if the megane is making headway into the small car segment as really this is the only way Renault can start getting its presence felt.

The same here in Melbourne. I haven't seen a single DS3 yet, or any new C3 for that matter.

    break down is interesting :
    Megane hatch 41
    Kangoo 25
    RS250 24
    Koleos 4x4 20
    Fluence 15
    Koleos 4x2 14
    Master 13
    Megane cab 9

    Rick,hi
are you sure those are Feb 2011 figures and not Jan 2011? if so then they are bad becuase thay only add up to 171 compared to the 180 sold in feb 2010, which means the statement by Renault Australia is misleading. I will wait for the sales numbers to come thru on the Renault HQ website. You can see all sales for the past few years there. I hope the numbers you quoted are wrong because it is very disappointing. I was expecting sales of 248, being 180 plus the 68 you quoted.

humm..wonder whether the Renault HQ guys have it wring. I just rechecked:

    Jan 2011- 137 units, 12 up on Juan 2010
Feb 2011 - unknown but 64 up per posting, Feb 2010 per caradvice and renault finance post on renault worldwide website - 180.

    Anyway, thanks

    Hi Alastair.
I have been trying to get the figures, but the website i subscribe to no longer has the VFACTS info....well, they do, but the want $79 bucks a year for the pleasure.

I hope to find a source soon.

I do have all the official sales figures by model up to Sept 2010, which is when i lost access.

Thank you Ricky for the update.

Will have to try the Renault HQ website. Is that Renault Aus or renault.com??
I must admit i have not seen anything on the Renault Aus website relating to sales figures.
    Cheers - Luke

Seen a few on the streets of Wellington. In fact, quite a few recent Citroens, and loads of Peugeots, even the RCZ. I'm not sure I've seen a single near-new Renault...

Renault are pretty much invisible in NZ at present (at least down here in Wellington). Not having a diesel option (except for the Koleos) is just plain daft. They still don't have pricing for 2011 yet. And their dealership here just doesn't seem to care at all.

In fact, I think there are more Lamborghini sold new.

So you can't compare two sets of sales data. Don't know for sure but I assume that's whats happening here.

nope, thats not how things work my friend. The renault HQ reports are external sales i.e., what has been sold. They also correlate with those published by caradvise.com.au

hi, just checked the Renault HQ Finance link, sales for Aust were 180 units, same as last year; YTD 15 units up on 2010. In light of all the new models, not fantastic. Whilst Megane sales (per risk's figures) are up, Koleos sales has been disappointing. Hope, March will be better.

$25m? That was bigger than their initial launch budget, which in hindsight they didn't believe was justified. I'd be surprised if they spend more now...

advertising will be focusing on Fluence and Megane hatch via newspaper, magazine, internet and national TV ads.
RS250 will feature in RedBull Raceoff and the E1's this weekend coming.
After talking to Renault's reps I believe they realise a brand can not survive on the back of 1 model (RS 250) and the bread and butter cars need a profile lift. Especially the Fluence which is a bit of a phantom model...... no one knows it exists !
