    Default Roof bars/bicycle carriers

I am looking at fitting roof bars to my Megane (5 door hatch) in order to transport a bicycle.

I have looked at the Thule and the Rhino Rack web sites.

Does anyone have experience in this area, and can recommend a particular brand and type (not necessarily the two mentioned) and why?

    Hi Dave

I used the genuine Renault cross bars as I wanted to make sure the mounting to the roof was fail safe.
Thule ski clamps and (for separate occasions)Thule bicycle carriers of the front wheel off and clamped at the fork ends type were chosen again for a secure mount that was also lockable and also present a much lower profile and less wind resistance with the seat posts removed.

No problems at all with this setup and very happy.
Tested to all legal speed limits....

I bought my car so that I didn't ever have to ride a bicycle again!
Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone............
