For anyone thats interested, after rebuilding two R4's many years ago I just happen to have a genuine Renault workshop manual I acquired with one of those gems. As it would be a fairly uncommon article it might have some intrinsic value to anyone trying to build an R4 from scratch. ( It does detail how to do that providing you have the box of genuine bits to build one from!) Any takers?

I'm trying too build one from a box of bits. I've got a couple of manuals but might be interested if it's not one I already have. Do you know the manual's MR number?

Geoff, it is but a MR61 EA 2nd Edition, Feb 1963. (The year after I think I saw my first R4 at a dealership in Wagga Wagga.)
    Covers R.1120, R.1121, R.1122, R. 2102

Ah, the good 'ol MR61. I already have one of those. Also got a MR175 which has the 1123 and a whole bunch of others up to 1975. Which is helpful for distinguishing between the early sixties variants here in Aus and others when looking for parts.

    Thanks for looking anyway.

    MR175 covers 1120, 1121, 1122, 1123, 1124, 1126, 2102, 2104, 2105, 2106, 2108, 2109, 2391, 2392, 2370, 2430. That's a nice variety isn't it.

Here is another article that gives an idea of the support La Regie is putting behind the 50th anniversary. Not a bad read, but could use some more pics!

    Just 1 or 2 1123s but I wouldn't mind a few of the others. I think there's a few more from after 1975.

I wish I'd had room to keep my two little darling R4's all this time too! I gave my last one to my mum who drove it 80K after it's first 95K. It eventually succumbed to a serious fire on it's way from Pearcedale to Langwarrin. I got her to put a sack over the engine under the hood atr night during the winter months (better than a 12v conversion) but alas she forgot to remove it before her trip on this one occasion and the fire brigade took too long to get to the problem. Sad but true!

    I WANT ONE!!
I'm going to be in France later this year - so I might try and find one. It could be my car for England, despite being LHD, I'm sure I could persuade the old man to look after it for me.....

Speaking of Renault 4s... here's some Swedish style, filmed in the Pyrenees!
